I Hate Line Dancing!!

Post by Lon »

I went to a big Bar-B-Q party Sunday afternoon. The food and booze was great. They had a DJ playing the most god awful music to which 20 or 30 ladies were Line Dancing to. It looked like a military drill. Now I love to dance. I would rather dance than eat and am fairly good at most any type of dancing, but I do prefer a partner. What's with this solo crap? I know it's popular. Why?

The gals at the Bar B Q were not as attractive as those in this pic. If they had been, it would have been more bearable.

Tie your line to the wall, that should stop the buggers dancing.

I agree, Lon. There is nothing like dancing with a partner; being held close and moving together.

In the 8th grade, when I was 13, we had a social dancing class. We learned the fox trot, the waltz, and the cha-cha. Boys learned how to bow and the girls learned to curtsy. It was quite thrilling, especially to us shy kids, to actually dance with a member of the opposite sex (our age) for the first time.

So. let's dance! :)

I always thought line dancing looked boring and silly...until I joined in. It's actually a lot of fun, there are a lot of different moves to remember and anyone can do it because you don't need a partner, you just join in.

When you realise how tricky it is you begin to admire the people who are so good at it. It's also excellent exercise and, as I said, great fun to do with your mates.

I think this is a case of 'don't knock it 'til you try it!'. You might find it's fun. :)

Line dancing doesn't require a partner so I think a lot of people are more comfortable with it. It can be fun and usually gets the dancers out on the floor than couples dances.

Fun? You would like military drill if you like line dancing. Takes no skill at all. It's good I guess for people without coordination and that can't lead or follow a partner. Monkeys learn the same steps to line dancing very quickly.:guitarist

Again, how do you know if you don't try it? :sneaky:

Actually, fyi, it does take very good coordination and balance. Also, fyi, monkeys are highly intelligent creatures. Tis said that given an infinite number of monkeys and an infinite amount of paper, one of them will rewrite the complete works of Shakespeare!

I thought you were the sort of person who would try something new rather than being closed-minded and negative about it! I haven't tried pickle ball but I would try it before telling you that monkeys could play it better then you.

LMAO@takes no skill. My husband deejays. There's a lot of people with no skills doing a heck of a good job dancing then. Have you ever seen a bunch of people who don't know how to line dance try to learn? IMO it takes less skill following someone.

I DO tend to take things quite seriously. I never used to. I was more laid back and easy-going. I still am to a certain degree but I think that the more of life's knocks you have to take the more serious and grown up you have to become. It's not a choice. It just is. But just because I'm serious, it doesn't mean I'm stupid. So, no, I've never responded to those offers of wealth from Nigeria. However, I did forward them your details as a suitable recipient and they said they'll be happy to contact you soon. :)

I was just giving my opinion. I'm sure if I said a blue sky was blue you would disagree with it and tell me it was zebra-patterned or somesuch. You are apparently bored with your life and want to nit-pick and antagonise for amusement. Children do this. But they say we all become more childlike as we become older. ;)

I didn't say your life was boring but even if one lives a perfect life one will become bored with it. It becomes monotonous and repetitive. Perhaps if you gave some of your time to helping those less well-off it would make you feel more worthwhile and give you a sense of satisfaction. Try it and see. :-6

If your life were more satisfying you wouldn't take such pleasure in continually poking me with a virtual stick. Like a bored child...prod, prod, prod...trying to get a reaction. It's basic psychology and it shows that you're bored and just about ready to throw a tantrum from boredom. Most children would have a smack on the legs by now, but I don't believe in smacking children. Therefore I recommend you find a nice new toy to play with and I think you would get pleasure in giving your time and doing something which physically helps those in less well off positions than you are. It will be good for your soul. :-6

You are just too much, really. What does your therapist say about people that continually respond to STICK POKING. Are they masochistic, and enjoy being abused, or amused? Hey love---------you're right, I am bored right now. It's 106 F outside at the moment and a nice 75 F here in the house. I played some tennis early in the AM, am cooking some spaghetti sauce on the stove and will go for a swim in a bit. Tonight it's off to see one of the plays at the "Shakespeare Festival" On the way I will kick a few dogs and some street people who just don't know their:-3 place.

Now you're just showing off and being sarcastic. Your lifestyle might be wonderful but deep down you're bored with the same old, same old. Maybe you just can't see it, although it's perfectly obvious from an outsider's point of view. Enjoy your swim, you'll need to swim a lot of lengths to calm your aggression but it will be good for you. Therapy is not really a British thing, we have common sense instead. However, you have just had an hours worth of free therapy from me. Hopefully you'll mull it over and find it beneficial. Enjoy the Shakespeare, I hope you understand all the nuances. :D

I don't believe in Satan Nomad, so I can't hate him (or her). Rutabaga on the other hand I really have a deep seated hatred for. Just thinking about Rutabaga I find very upsetting. I need to sit down and relax.
