I'd be interested in how many pics had to be shot to make sure none of the kids was smiling at the notion of being in the paper.:D

Is this paper similar to the national inquirer that we have over here?

No, The Daily Mail is the most popular national newspaper here. They are renowned for their honesty and only having the finest calibre of research journalists.

In fairness, my local PCSO is very good. We get kids tearing up tree's and bushes outside our house in the field and it's no big deal is it? Kids will be kids.

'A report was made to us by a resident who complained of rude and anti-social behaviour from a group of children playing in a nearby tree.

yea:rolleyes: once when my son as a lot younger,, ermm about 13 i think ,, he noticed at our local bus stop the advert thats inside a panel at the side of the bus shelter was hanging out of the bottom a bit where the glass there had been broken for ages,,, it was a poster of a well known basketball star and he was into basketball at that time so he tought wow,,, if i tug at that poster carefully i can get it out and have it for my bedroom wall. Thats how stupid he was at the time:wah:he was on his way home with it,, not even thinking he had done wrong,, when he was stoppped by a police car,,a report ahd been made by a resident from behind the bus stop... Anyway did the police tell him what he had done could be classed as theft, or vandalism etc fetch him home and tell us what he had done ,,, no,,, the police arrested him for theft, took him to the police station, then rang us at home and said we have arrested your son for theft!! can you imagine my stomach turning and my mind racing! I was annoyed at my son for not stopping to think if what he was doing was wrong, but i was bloomin furious the police couldnt just use a bit of common sense in dealing with it.:rolleyes:

It depends on the police officer Kaz.......... most are consiencious caring people who really want to do the job that the tax payer pays them for: i.e Crime prevention and protecting the public. Every now and then you get a grade A arssehole who wants the quick notch on the truncheon for promtion but usually their attitude screws them for any promotion any way. These elite few will accuse a kid of theft or anything else. I personally think the one who nicked your son probably longed for promotion but couldn't get it. It's these one's that bring shame on the entire force.

At your son's age, they don't realise what they are doing so how can they be made to feel so bad?

We have a PCSO here who has been very good at sorting out the parking with parents who block folks drives when they pick their kids up. She goes down the close and talks to people.... Simple...... Yet local Councillors are snowed under with complaints about a PCSO who thinks she's a qualified officer a few miles away. Residents are sick to death of the attitude but she's just another one who's a 'wanna be'. It's when they are failing to meet their targets that they nick 10 yr old kids. It's called desperation. Most cops would have given him a kindly word. That's why even the kids in this country have no respect for the police.

When my boys were little they were at the park with their friends and they broke a bottle at the end of the slide. I was fuming when other kids came to tell me about it.

When they got back I gave them a bucket and dust pan and brush and told them to go back and clean it up.

When I told the eldest he could get into trouble if someone had called the police he said and I quote " it's okay dads a policeman he'll fix it" I was gobsmacked with his attitude. I rang the police and asked confidentially what I could do about it. (After commenting on how my son was a "cheeky little barstard" :wah: I had to agree,) he said they prefer not to come out and have a talk with children because they prefer not to scare them off . One day they may need a police officer and might be too afraid to approach one.

Oh and by the way Daddy didn't take care of it the way he thought . I think he was grounded for two months.

The kid needs to get a grip on things. One of my sons was in Germany with the army. He saw cops stop at a house. One cop came out dragging a full grown German shepard dog. A man came out of the house and seemed to be pleading with them as one cop took out his pistol and shot the dog. Son said he was warned German cops don't mess around.

This was around 1979.

I know one who arrested a 73 year old woman and terrified her. :( :( Sadly, she was totally unaware of the complaints proceedure until it was too late.

Yes, here too. If cops do 100 good things, no one remembers. If they screw up once, no one forgets.

It's funny when you go into the pub and ex officers and their foes of 30 years ago look at each other and smile and have a drink together . And then you hear, "remember old such and such? Yeah well he died the other week" and both sides are trully upset about the news.

We have a local one on restricted duty while he's investiagted for an assault allegation, yet, we just remember the good he's done. All officers make mistakes, it's human nature but when a decent cop screws up, no-one minds. it's when they are an arsse-hole in their heart and rotton to the core that you remember, especially when they screw up more than once.

Even being accused anymore, you might as well hang it up. No one ever remembers the facts, just the accusations... but the same is true of criminal charges placed against the general public. No one is ever as clear on the 'not guilty' story as they are on the charges that so and so was arrested on originally.

If your up for more than one charge and your found not guilty on one but guilty on the other.... folk will always assume you had to be guilty on the 2nd all along. It's hypocritical really because if they doubt the judge's decision that found you not guilty of one charge, then why don't they doubt the Judges decision on the guilty one? :wah: I do hoope our local officer on the assualt charge is found not guilty.... he's one of the best.
