BBC Panorama documentary brands Southmead as racist | Bristol news
Did any-one see this pile of shyte on tv last night?
As I live very close to where this was filmed, I am as out-raged as the people of 'Southmead' Bristol.
Indeed, there were three highly obnoxious Individuals who assaulted and racial abused under cover reporters, one merely a child. Yet, the entire programme was to brand the entire estate as rascist and I know this is not the case. The entire programme was actually about the three individuals who should rightly have been arrested. Three people does not make an estate and it is offensive to all the good people who live there. As an experiment, one of the under cover reporters were stopping folk in the street to ask directions to see what response they got. the two responses they showed were highly pleasing. I suspect they stopped far more folk than just two but finding a favourable response, did not show the footage. Even at the very beginning, they pointed out that a BNP leaflet had been dropped through the door... So what? The BNP multi leaflet drop the same as any party. They didn't pick up the Labour, Tory, UKIP etc leaflets lying on the mat.
Shame on the BBC for showing this crap.

I watched and got a different impression.
There were more than three people that gave abuse, although the program did focus on a small selection.
Whether it was a small group or a concerted campaign the affect was the same the events did happen in broad daylight on the streets of the UK, we all saw that.
The kids must hear such talk from adults, I don't think they came to that point by themselves.
An older man stopped a child from threatening the girl with half a house brick, and the people stopped for directions gave the program some balance.
Nobody can know how much was footage was dumped, only the film makers, but considering the timescale of the events it was an indictment of the declaration recently that race relations were no longer a problem in the UK.

I am not saying that this kind of rascism is not happening on the streets of the UK but to brand an entire estate as rascist for car crash tv is blatent propoganda. I know this area and the whole prog was bollocks to try to smear an entire estate. Is it no co-incidence that they happened to choose an area of Bristol that could be described by some as a sink estate where many are dependent on benifit etc. I'm sure had they done the same doco in the leafy suberbs of Kingston-Upon-Thames, there would have been nothing to film.

I did not see it as smearing a whole estate.
Racism doesn't need to be fought in the leafy suburbs of Kingston on Thames, but on the sink estates.
After saying that, the racism in the leafy suburbs is more subtle anyway, people there don't punch you in the face......normally.

That is elitist Bull. Rascism is everywhere not just sink Estates. The problem is more down to class.
