Lots to be Thankful For in Spring!

Post by Philadelphia Eagle »

Many of us have lots to be thankful for but we don't always realize it. I thought it would make for a good discussion topic if we were to share our positive and optimistic views and I always find Spring activities in the yard are a good reason to take stock.

Spring is well and truly under way here in southern PA. Our resident Bluebirds are busy raising their first family (3 blue eggs can be seen) and the Goldfinches are turning brighter yellow by the day. A wide varriety of other birds are daily visitors at the feeders.

This is always a beautiful time of the year here with the days sunny and warm and the nights still cool. Daytime highs around high70s and nightime lows around 48/50. Humidity levels are still blissfully low - around 25%. As we get nearer to the summer that, unfortunately, will not last. (For our friends on the Forum from Europe our area is on the 39degree latitude line which in European terms is a little south of Madrid,Spain - so it's a similar climate)

The Dogwoods, Maples and Bradford Pears are getting their seasonal new leaves and our pink Magnolia is about to burst forth into full splendour. We have some Crepe Myrtles but they won't develop until a little later. Being semi-tropical shrubs they like our summers but hate our cold winters!

The patio grill has been dusted down and set up - we use it regularly from now on.

We're looking forward to having friends to stay with us a little later in the year - especially my daughter, husband and 3 super grandchildren.

So - it's nice to get up each morning, see the ever-changing world about us and look forward to good times ahead.

Do you view Springtime as a time of optimism? Let's have your thoughts.

Just being able to ger outside is why I love spring.
