Sesame Street

Post by AussiePam »

A brilliant journo from our best local evening rag, Tim Blair wrote a moving, in depth article to celebrate The 40th anniversary of Sesame Street.

This anniversary is brought to you by the number 40 and the year 1969. ...... Everybody remembers where they were when Big Bird was beheaded and roasted. 'Sesame street' ate well that day. And what about when the Cookie Monster was arrested? His Dennis Ferguson eyes were a dead giveaway. Another highlight: Oscar the Grouch's fatal crushing when his bin was loaded into the back of a garbage truck. Oh! And who can forget Bert and Ernie's murder-suicide?

I'll never forget coming home one afternoon and having my littleone who is now 29 run up to me and ask to show me her pear wet. One of the critters had been learning it that day and she followed along.:D

One of my favourite sketches was "Rebel L" in parody of Billy Idol, with an animated letter L dancing around in a front yard singing "La La La... LA LA LAAAA"
