how do you wake up?

Post by koan »

I'm not at my best in the morning. It usually takes me a half hour and a cup of coffee to get over the fact that I'm awake.

I've got a new routine. Now I wake up under attack with a kitty either punching me in the face with her paw or launching herself at my head. :wah:

I wake up every morning @ 4 am to the sounds of my parrot screaming my name and then that starts the dogs barking. When the dogs bark, my parrot "mimics" the dog bark :yh_rotfl Now I have three dogs barking :wah: Then I have to go outside and feed my horse (Midnight) and my Pot Belly pig (Miss Piggy). At that point, I wish I had some pot :yh_rotfl

I wake up a bit groggy and need to hit the shower first thing. Coffee is set on timer night before and I'm ready for a cup after the shower.

I am a grouchy zombie till about 10am. Any who dares to be Friendly, Cheery, Filled with Music, or is whistling a happy tune is fair game for the Wrath of Minks.

I usually had to hit my snooze button (hit ahahaha) at least 3 times before I open my eyes.

Mornings bah humbugg!!!!!!!

wake up at 7:30 realizing i have 30 minutes to get dressed and to class so basically... i'm wide awake by then, i've learned to straighten my hair and brush my teeth at the same time, while deciding what i want to wear... while blaring loud music to wake me up and looking out the window to make sure what i picked out will fit the weather... by then i'm wide awake and running to class with 3 minutes left to spare.

As slowly as possible. I enjoy thinking about how I slept and what my dreams were.

I love early mornings - quietest time of the day... at least till the sulphur crested cockatoos start...

I think if I could make my own hours entirely I'd sleep in the afternoon and the middle of the night and enjoy a long early morning and a long evening.

I usually wake up around 6a.m. or 6:30. Mornings are my quiet time. T.V. down low, if on at all, coffee, cigarettes, email, obits, FG, and FB until around 8. Then I get a bath. After that, it's housework until I go to work. Mornings are my most energetic time of day once I've had my computer fix.

I get up at 5, and go more slowly now-too fast I will have a little pull somewhere and a numb arm or something for an hour or so. Jump in the shower, cook breakfast, feed the husband and then the critters, wash the dishes, lay out some stuff for din-din in the evening. Leave for work at 6:30.

Shoot it!!!!

Our kitty just sits and waits for my son to get out of bed. She just sits and stares. Then when he is out, it's like a tag team scenario. She curls up in his warm spot and promptly goes to sleep.

I wake up between five and six every morning (don't ask me why) I go for a walk which gets me into a good mood.

Funny you should mention "waking up in the mornings" I don't know what the hell I was doing in my sleep last night but my hair was all matted this morning and it took ages after a shower to get the tangles out.:-3:-3

I do my best to not get up in the mornings...I hate mornings and always have. My dogs, on the other hand, want me up earlier than I do. One scrapes the wall, another is in my face pawing me and kissing me and the 3rd one is just along for the ride! Once I open the back doors and let them run in and outta the house whenever they want, I go back to sleep and they leave me alone. :-4

How to Wake Up To Brighter Mornings For Mums

For many mums, mornings revolve around making breakfast for the family while having a quick scan of the day's news, hollering reminders to your kids to put their homework into their school bag, briefing your helper and throwing hubby a flying kiss as you sprint for the door. With some organisation, mornings will soon become your (and your family's) favourite time of the day.

Step 1Sleep Early - ensuring you get at least eight hours of sleep the night before is crucial for a bright morning start. But if you struggle to go to bed at night, try relaxing with a cup of your favourite warm beverage or a few pages of your favourite novel.

Step 2Ensure the kids get good sleep - if they get sufficient rest the night before, you need not spend 15 minutes pulling them off their beds.

Step 3Prepare ahead - The night before, put your work bag, keys and mobile phone all in one place, so you do not have to scramble around the house looking for them the next day. Pick out your work outfit too.

Step 4Sort out your child's school bag - Give your child pocket money, sign her test report and get her to put her finished homework into her school bag the night before. Once everything is in the bag, put it right next to the door.

Step 5Work out a routine - Start with your shower, dressing and make-up, then make breakfast and brief your helper before you step out. Develop a routine for the kids too. This way, you will not forget anything.

Step 6Be Beauty Smart - Save time by investing in a low maintenance haircut, and limit your make up routine to a good foundation, lipstick and mascara. Keep a beauty palette in your office drawer for touch ups.

Step 7Get everyone's help - Encourage older kids to help clear dishes and wipe the breakfast table while you and hubby enjoy and extra cup of coffee and a lingering goodbye kiss at the door.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I know, I know............I'm being a wise-a$$. :wah: I get up at about 5;30 am, groggy. turn off the alarm, turn on the light, slip my feet into my slippers and head for the bathroom. Then the morning news on TV and sips of coffee. Iron my clothes for the day, get dressed and do the make-up and hair styling thing. Ofcourse, a pleasant "good morning" to Hubby gets in there somewhere. It's just the two of us now.....no kids at home. Our turtle is quiet and our parakeet is also groggy and quiet first thing in the morning. :wah:

"Every day is a gift." I remind myself of this truth and somehow get through the day.

I'm sorry ? I get my kids breakfast ready for them? what? Were they born without legs and hands?

I'm constantly told " I have no homework " this is actually true because they do it on the bus ride home from school. If I was to have a warm cup of my favourite I'd go right back to sleep:wah:

15 mins pulling my kids out of bed is a godsend. they are boys !!! not meant for mornings especially during growth spurts when their brain and body is taking a holiday. I find torches and pen lights in my youngest sons bed from when he was reading half the night, and he wonders why he has bags under his eyes . Until recently I thought it was allergies.

I prepare a week ahead I freeze their lunches for the week . they can either take 15 mins to make a sandwhich or simply take it out of the freezer and stick it in their lunch boxes.

My kids have just gone through the "computer time for jobs talk"

basically if my kid wants to take off to his friends place in my car he owes me petrol money and time spent having fun. My youngest owes computer time etc. etc. time equivalent doing these things is built up to equate to "chore" time.

Funnily enough my boys see the fairness in this.

all's good............................Making there breakfast? bah humbug. And my 14 year old washes his own socks and sports clothes.!!!!!!

I'm a creature of habit:

1. Read for about a half hour...I won't say where.

2. Shower.

3. Get dressed.

4. Feed the kitty cat.

5. ..and the finale...a nice cold bowl of CAPTAIN CRUNCH while watching CNN!!

That sugar rush is enough to send me to the moon without a spaceship!:wah:

(But I probably have enough yellow dye #5 in my system to make me glow in the dark!)
