How Do You Feel About Body Scanners In Airports?

Post by TruthBringer »

The Government is talking about putting body scanners in airports that will be able to see the naked bodies of men, women, and children?

Personally, I think they are INVASIVE BEYOND ALL HELL. And secondly, I'll be damned if some security guard making 13 dollars an hour is going to see my girlfriend naked. Or anyone else in my family.

Look at the grin on that kids face as he scans this woman in a body scan machine. This is a ****in disgrace in my opinion.

We live in a country with 300,000,000 people. If the government thinks that body scanners at airports is the answer to stopping terrorism, they need to think again. Anytime someone wants to walk into a store and blow it up, they can. A bank, they can. And airport, they can. A courthouse, they can. But guess what, they've always BEEN able to do this. Ever since dynamite or any other explosive was first created.

No one has the right to view another person's naked body without their permission. It is a God Given right to be able to hide your body from others and to show it only to those whom you love. I believe this to be true. Bombs can go off anywhere, and here we have these ****in people puttin machines in airports that can look at yer girlfriends goodies. Or your little baby girls body (you know how many sex offenders probably work at airports who haven't been caught yet - that is fricken disgusting).

frequent flyers will be coming down with cancer in droves. If I have to show my naked body to an attendant it's the same as being strip searched...It is a disgrace. Is that guy a medical attendant? I think not.

It’s bullsh1t.

This is all based on the recent incident and the fact is, that not only were security aware of the situation, but the father of the guy to tried to blow up the plane even phoned and warned them as he was concerned about his son’s activities.

The ‘intelligence’ agencies totally fail in their duties and the solution is to implement further invasions and incontinences to travelers.

It is amazing how fast they have come up with this solution; it is almost like they wanted to have another little scare to give them the excuse they need to bring this in.

There should be a worldwide boycott on travel and see how the airlines react to that.

I've been strip searched a few times. I'd rather that than be blown up. And, as a frequent flyer, I'll take my chances with the radiation.

Aussie you don't seem to get the point. We're happy that you would rather show your naked [crude descriptive language removed] off to the security guards than be blown up on the plane. But guess what, people like me and Fuzzy and mikeinie don't feel the same way. Shoot, why [crude descriptive language removed] so they can get a clearer view of what you got goin on down there?

If I thought the way you did, then I mine as well sit in my house with the blanket over me and never come out again, for I might be blown up if I do.

You can have that curly haired little **** go into the bathroom on his break and masturbate to the images of your naked body that he recorded in his head (if he thought it was worth it of course), but I'm not putting a child through that.

You commented as an adult, now tell me you feel that it's ok for your childrens bodies to be scanned as well, even if they just so happened to be scanned by child ponographers (in their free time) or child molesters (in their free time).

What's next? If we let the government get away with this....what is next? Have you ever asked yourself that question?

The World is getting crazier and crazier by the day. If in 10 years the World gets much crazier than it already is, than it's kind of funny how Aussie said she would rather have her naked body scanned than blow up in a plane because if in 10 years things get that bad than I would rather be blown up in a plane than to live in a World that's gone totally insane.

When your government decides it's ok to scan it's citizen's naked bodies, and when they come to this decision with or without your permission, than you know your country is gone. Because it's not your country anymore. It's theirs.

It's your country that wants to scan me, Truthbringer. And I do get the point, so don't be so bloody patronising. I don't like it, but I'll put up with it. I'm sorry that our world has got to the stage where such things are considered necessary.

If I wish to travel to the United States, I'll fit in with what your security people decide. If my children wish or need to go to the United States, they will do that too.

Your comments about pornographers and perverts are paranoia and hysteria - and your whole tone is just plain nasty.

You're willing to subject your innocent children to naked body scans? You should have your children taken away from you. And you make me sick.

Wait...before you write back with a snardy comment, I just want to warn you that I just ran into the other room and put on a security outfit...so now you have to do whatever I say.

Here's my questions for all of you guys.

What are the signs of a broken people within a country?

How would you know you were looking at a broken people if you saw them?

Can people become so broken that the truths of how they are being screwed no longer set them free? But instead, only serve to further demoralize them? Is that even possible?

Could a nations people take on abusive child syndrome? Where they start to protect the very people who are abusing them?

Ban was lifted my mistake so sorry your link in signature has been removed.

Do Airport Body Scanners Break Child Porn Laws?

LONDON (Dec. 5) – Since the failed bombing of a Detroit-bound flight on Christmas Day, officials in the United States, Canada, Britain and the Netherlands have called for new advanced full-body scanners to be used on all passengers. But privacy campaigners on both sides of the Atlantic are warning that the personnel operating these machines – which see through travelers' clothing, making it easier to identify explosives and weapons – could be charged under child pornography laws if they scan anyone under the age of 18.

Those concerns last month led British officials to abandon plans to body-scan all travelers during a 12-month trial of the technology at Manchester airport. They will only scan adults until the legal situation is clarified. U.K. authorities made that amendment after a protest by advocacy groups Action on Rights for Children and Privacy International. They claimed that these machines, if used on minors, would breach the U.K.'s 1978 Protection of Children Act, which says it is illegal to take an indecent photo or "pseudo-photograph" of a child.

The key word in the 1978 piece of legislation is "take." According to Simon Davies, director of Privacy International, "Child protection laws criminalize the taking of images of a revealing nature of young people." Even though the $150,000 scanners wipe the naked pictures after they have appeared on screen, says Davies, security staff could still be prosecuted for creating the image. "It's irrelevant how long these images are kept for," he says, "the fact that they were captured in the first place is the offense."

It's now likely that any machines installed at British terminals – Prime Minister Gordon Brown this weekend gave the go-ahead for the technology to be rolled out across U.K. airports – will be lumbered with the same age exception. But if the government goes for that option, says Davies, the effectiveness of the technology will be undermined.

"A parent could place a substance on a child if they want to get around checks," he says, adding that the money set aside for these scanners could be spent boosting counterterrorism intelligence. "Our preferred option is to see this machinery only used on specifically targeted, risky individuals."

Similar legal problems exist in the U.S. John Verdi, senior counsel at the Washington, D.C.-based Electronic Privacy Information Center, says American child pornography law is based on possession of an indecent image – the intent behind its creation is irrelevant.

"I don't think that there's any question that the images, even though they're only temporary, could still qualify as child pornography," he says. "But for me the bigger question is whether they fall in one of the exemptions under U.S. law."

Law enforcers can hold on to indecent images in a few limited cases. "These exemptions are typically used during active investigations, where police are chasing down a child pornographer, for example," says Verdi. "But that's very different from saying we're going to allow Transport Security Administration officials to possess naked images of children as part of a large, routine, mandatory screening process that has no particular target."

Verdi says concerns over child scanning are likely to grow in the coming months. Although the machines are only used in 19 American airports, where passengers can opt for a pat-down instead of a full scan, it's widely predicted that the Obama administration will soon introduce mandatory scanning of all passengers. And unless the government clears up the legal confusion around this security process, it could find itself hit with a flurry of lawsuits.

"I certainly expect that a lot of travelers will be outraged if they find out that these sort of detailed naked images are being taken of their kids," says Verdi.

If you want to hide your girlfriends body from all of the sex offenders that most certainly do work at the airport (its common knowledge that perverts are crawling out from the woodwork begging for jobs as security in airports all over the country) then dont fly with her.

People are trying to blow planes up. Could be you and your gf next time. Im guessing the moment before the explosion and fire rips through the cabin and pieces of your charred body fall to Earth the option would sound reasonable.

Frankly I will take the body scan along with everybody else on my flight for peace of mind knowing the chances of someone sending me to my death is greatly reduced.

These devices are not new, and sadly this is what we have been reduced to but if it means I can enjoy a worry free flight to I am all for it.

It just takes one to ruin it for everybody and well... terrorisim did just that.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're out to get you.

I don't care about the scan.

I just want to get on the plane.

And I want it to get where it's going in one piece.

If you don't wanna get scanned, take the bus.

I am with the majority here. I would rather get to my destination safe, than not at all. I think TB is being prudish about other people seeing his GF - big deal - not like they have never seen it before, and besides that - I am sure that the scanning job would just end up turning into another monotonous job after a short while.

Wow. Everyone is getting pretty upset about this. I really didn't think it'd be that big of a deal. After all, everyone here is on video at least an average of seven times a day. There are cameras on the streetlights, in the stores, in the courtrooms and schools, just about everywhere! Your whole life is on video. What's one more?

Yeah, I know that this one sees through clothes, but the guy who sees it is in another room and no one else can see the image except him or her. Here's another thought: We've already allowed DWI roadblocks. You can be driving down the road, minding your own business and pursuing happiness and you can get stopped by the police for no reason whatsoever. You can also be randomly drug tested in the workplace. We've lost tons of freedoms already. How is this any different?

Let's face it, this is not going to go away, it'll just get worse. (See: Gattaca.):-3

Since I have absolutely no control over the process, I'm not going to stress over it.:o

Oh, that brings another thing to mind. Doctors see you naked, don't they? And that's not an impersonal scan with your clothes on, either. You are actually in the room with another person. If you can put up with that, what's the big deal about this?:-3

I'm actually perplexed at the moment because for once i agree with truthbringer.

The pic that was originally part of the first post showed the womans breasts very well and what I saw on TV last night didn't leave anything to the imagination., fortunetly they blurred out his penis.

For those who say that they would be willing to undergo this scan rather than be blown up may I ask you something?

In Britain where were the bombs? buses, trains and an airport .

In America where were the bombs? buildings.

Do you guys now want to be scanned before going into any building? to get onto a bus or a train? Scanned just to enter an airport?

So if they stop people from blowing up planes do you think there will be no more bombs?

If someone is determined to blow you up they are going to do it regardless of precautions put in place.

You know all you guys who are for this stuff all make me sick. I'm serious. I think we live in a generation of cowards. It wouldn't matter if you guys thought that the body scans were an invasion of privacy anyways because most all of you would be too scared to ever stand up together and to face the Government and refuse them. So either way, you'll get what they give you, and you'll like it. Regardless.

You're better off living under the threat of a terrorist attack than you ever are when you give up your privacies and liberties one by one so blindly and so stupidly like you are doing right now. These people are going to have their boots so far up your asses in the coming years it won't be funny. And I'll be laughing, because you'll probably just be begging for more.

Doctors and that curly haired jerry curled security guard are two different things. Ok and for the most part, Doctors very rarely see you naked. And many girls choose girl OBG's anyway. Because they feel uncomfortable with a man poking around down there. I know, I've talked to many who feel this way.

Well, a naked childs body is a naked childs body. I'm not talking about a little baby that has her shirt off and is wearing a diaper, I don't know how you wanna cut it up to make it look good. But it doesn't. I'm talking an 8-10 year old girl of course, prime age for raping, molesting, passing photos around the internet of them, etc. I'm talking a disgrace. These body scan machines are a disgrace.

I've spent most of my time on this forum bashing the governments and their policies, but I am beginning to realize that the only reason that the governments are getting so far with their CRACK DOWN ON THEIR OWN CITIZENS is because of their spineless cowardly citizens. So so be it.

Do me a favor and be fed up with people you know in real life. No one here in FG deserves that rant that you just gave. We make YOU sick?????? Hello:wah:

I think that you owe an apology to everyone here for your rant.

"Take care of me. Save me." Get the **** outta here.

these are attempts to help us, to reduce terrorism what happens if they prove them highly effective hmmmm? I look at it as an attempt to protect me, geeze nothing ventured nothing gained.

That is a pretty crap attitude TB but it's yours embrace it. Good luck.

Watch who you call a coward TB I'm not afraid of you or the government I choose my battles and this is one I see as necessary for the public's safety that simple govermment has no bearing on my decision period.

Push come to shove if they had two International flights leaving at the same time, one you go through the scanner, the other you didn't your choice my guess everyone one would be in the line with the scanner they want to live if possible till they land nothing wrong with that.
ALOHA!!

MOTTO TO LIVE BY:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

WOO HOO!!, what a ride!!!"

How do you know? You asked our opinions on this topic of body scanners and we gave them opinions TB do you understand opinions. We all have em, and we all have our reasons for them. Perhaps you should have reworded this to be

"will any one join me in my revolt against the government and the body scanners are the last straw" ??

You are the one owing appologies for asking a question and then tromping on folks for their opinions not matching yours. Pretty knee jerk, and you know what you don't know squat about any of us so please step off your mighty soap box and show respect to others.

If you think "8-10 year old girl" and respond "prime age for raping" then I think you have a serious problem.

I also think the way you have behaved in this thread is a disgrace and that you should apologise to those here that you have insulted.
