Have people given up on Governments?

Post by mikeinie »

(Reposting from International Politics):

Ireland is in a mess.

In Canada I read of serious issue with the Harper government, in the USA there is political division, in Belgium, last year, the entire political system nearly collapsed. We are admiring China, the new mix of Communism/Capitalistic model. The bankers and investors have nearly bankrupted the world and there is no gold at the end of the rainbow.

As a friend of mine told me: ‘Due to the economic situation alongside the global warming issue, the governments of the world have decided to turn out the light at the end of the tunnel’.

Do people care anymore?

Do people believe in their politicians and leaders?

Who do we look up to now?

Who inspires us?

They use to say ‘hard times produce great leaders’ which many examples from the past, who are the great leaders of today?

Where are the visionaries?

Political interest in youth is at an all time low, many people do not even know how their own governments systems are suppose to work.

I believe this put us all at risk. General lack of interest opens the door for radicals and racists to take control by manipulating a loud minority.

The people of the world need to wake up and get active, or we could end up losing a lot of the freedoms that we have gained over the years and the only democratic rights we will be left with is the right to phone into the most recent reality TV show to vote for our favorite singer.

I think your right. I do know that the BNP has seen a huge rise in Enquiries and membership lists. Many of those are protest memberships and the general feeling I get while out canvassing Is that folk are in despair at present Government and any opposition Party.

I think the largest damning aspect was the expenses scandals as It was not limited to one Party and showed that basically they were all as bad as each other leaving very little faith In any future Government. Having said that, I do believe GB has done a good Job steering us out of what could have been a far worse recession.

This Election will be the one to watch. I do actually predivct a win for Labour, a bloodbath for the Lib Dems and I do predict at least two MP's returned for the BNP and other fringe Parties.

I thought long and hard about standing In the election and who I was standing for. At the end of the day, I remember one of the things I hate... Armchair critics. The folk who sit infront of their TV's whinging about the Government or what their local council are doing yet don't have the grunt to get up and do something about It to change things. I know myself, that once you declare that you are a Parlimentary Candidate, you have the Opportunity to be far more Involved in your community and have a say in descisions made, one of the reasons I decided to stand. I don't care what people think of me, I care about my community and how I can change that for the better. Those that critise me should get off their arsses and do the same for their communities. For example.. only yesterday I had an elderly couple call at my home frustrated because the council said their road was not major enough to grit and could I do some-thing? That is what it is about.

And the great danger in this country is the BNP and its fuhrer, Griffin.

Whatever the problem, electing evil racist nationalist socialist scumbags is not the answer.

The big difference between the three main parties and the BNP is that the three main parties get corrupted by power. The BNP already consists of criminals, racists, far right activists with links to international neo-fascism and anti-Semites.

The information and promises put out by the 3 main parties are genuine intentions they wish to fulfil. Notoriously, they don't always succeed in those promises. But they do try to.

The information put out by the BNP is straight lies designed to fool the ordinary British voter into believing that they are "Mom and apple pie": safe and homely.

Below is an example of what they are really like:

Stuart Williams (BNP councillor candidate): “Shoot pakis. That’s all I want to do, shoot pakis [...] I’m waiting for war.”

Stuart Williams: “You can see every mosque from Carr Lane [...] you can see all the mosques and paki areas [...] that’s where I’ll be sat all day with my f**king rocket launcher”

Stuart Williams: “My dream is to have a transit van with a machine gun in the back, you know like they have in the back of those helicopters, with about a million bullets all wired up to it. Just open the doors outside the mosque on a friday afternoon when they’re all coming out. [laughter]”

Part one of a BBC documentary entitled: “BNP exposed”

Have you ever actually attended a BNP branch meeting or Rally or are you going still on tired old quotes circling Wikki and You Tube from members that have long since been expelled?

There is no denying that the BNP has around 5% of It's nutters but then so does any Party but If you have never attended any BNP meeting, you are In no position to state that Party Policy is a pack Of lies.

You are wrong. The three main parties have no Intention of carrying out pre-election promises and If you think they do have every Intention then your deluded. Let's say your right and the mainstream Parties do have the Intention? Who the hell wants to vote for any Party who has a track record of Unfulfilled promises?

Griffin is still in charge, as he has been for years. He hasn't changed his opinions, as Question Time clearly showed. Enjoyed it when he tried to claim the Ku Klux Klan were a misunderstood group of peaceful protesters. The American lady pulverised him. The racist quotations are there on the internet because they are what the active members believe in.

Griffin is a fascist. Oscar is an activist for a fascist party. Don't believe a word she says. At best, she's been conned.

And if you want to vote for a party that hasn't failed to fulfil its election promises if elected, vote Lib Dem. :wah: They are honest. The BNP are liars, criminals, racists and anti-semites. That's BEFORE power has had a chance to corrupt them.

You come across as Offensive as well as deluded. You are the typical type who spouts on forums quoting the same old Wiki and You Tube quotes from 25 years ago. As you didn't answer the question, I assume you have not actually been to a BNP meeting to find out for yourself that of which you spout. How do you know what is proposed at meetings? You don't. You are a typical armchair critic. BNP members are extremely bored with folk like you who would rather read the News Of The World than actually doing something and having the balls to stand up and do something for your community. When ever there is a thread on Governments, you resort to Insults. I remember you getting quite upset on a thread when I suggested that all Lib Dems wore sandals yet you feel free to spout Insults as and when you wish. The BNP weather you like It or not is a Bono Registered Political Party. What do you think they are going to do? Start sending gypsies to gas Chambers?

Do you realise how laughable your post was when you stated that Mainstream Parties have unfulfilled Policies?

As for criminals, don't make me laugh. Your Lib Dems are just as guilty of having their snouts in the trough de-frauding their expenses off the back of the tax payer as are the Tories or Labour. You know as well as I do, If they were not Politicians, they would be appearing before the court for fraud or theft. And you have the gall to talk about criminals? :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Don't get angry at me. It's YOUR party that has the record of racism, anti semitism and violence you are trying to sweep under the carpet. Makes an idiot fiddling his or her expenses look minor, but for some reason oscar's little fascists are all lovely anyway.

YOU support the election of Griffin as Prime Minister. I know that's something to be ashamed of - particularly when you think of his pathetic showing on Question Time - but you support him, not me.

I'm proud to say I support Clegg and Cable for PM and Chancellor. They don't have slimy pasts addressing the Ku Klux Klan and writing about how the Jews have taken over the British media as part of some international plot - EXACTLY as Hitler did about the Jews in Germany.

No, I haven't been to a BNP meeting. I have no intention of going, and being involved in a BNP propaganda exercise. I have never been to a communist party meeting either - but I know I don't support communism any more than I support fascism. It's called reading.

You've become involved with something really nasty and unpleasant in the BNP. I hope you realise it sooner rather than later.

Anyway, sorry Mike that your thread has come to this.

The BNP is the Britsh nazi party in a 21st century guise. Their promises are not new and the consequences of then succeeding are well known. They're an age old set of pillocks.

Well no because they would have to start with griffin wouldn't they?

I see you are taking lessons in sophistry from the religious fundamentalists-you can't say that because I am offended by you mocking my beliefs/political ideology.

Clod is right our politicians are corrupted by power the BNP are a bunch of criminals before they start out.

At least you have got away from spouting about how wonderful gordon brown is. I have come to the conclusion that you were either taking the **** or if you sincerely believed it you have about as much political savvy as a dead budgie.

I don't care if you are offended I'm offended by the BNP because I am offended by bigots of every type.

If you are so sensitive to adverse comments perhaps you should stay out of politics ot cinfine yourself to making the tea at BNP meetings. No i haven't been to any meetings either-up here they are as rare as tories.

. So how many actual members of the BNP have you met? I doubt none. Then I don't expect any more from a News Of The World reader.

So what are you doing to Improve your community? Bugger all I suspect. How many PACT meetings do you attend a week to find out what your local Issue's are and what residents want? Bugger all again I suspect. You come on spouting tired old quotes from expelled members but you haven't even got the balls to join the UAF. Why don't you actually DO something Clod?

I think Clod has lost sight or never had the Insight of how local politics work In the first place. Do you think that anyone going to the Polls is voting for Brown or Cameron? Of course they arn't, they are voting for their local Parlimentary Candidate who they believe will do the most for them in their community. Gordon Brown, Cameron and Clegg are capable of being grade A numpties at times but they are actually not the one's up for election any more than Griffin Is up for NO 10.

Actually, one point came up in oscar's rant that interested me: her complaints about people criticising on forums.

Forums are an excellent venue for the examination of ideas because personalities are muted. One can well believe a personality like oscar can dominate a room because of the bold and brash way she is - no matter what the argument. Much harder to do it in a written environment where there is a record and the opposition can't just be shouted down. This sort of environment allows a more shy personality to express their opinions in a way they might not in a social face-to-face situation where they could be bullied into silence. Sheer loudness has little effect.

I'm sorry, oscar. Your little huff fools no-one.

Then put your money where your mouth Is. Get out and DO SOMETHING for your community. How many elderly homes have you checked on this week In the cold weather for example?

Why not be a man and have the balls to join the UAF and try disrupting a BNP rally? Where of course, they are all burning golliwogs over a fire and gassing gypsies:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

And this from the guy who admited in a post that he'd never heard of the UAF until he read about it on one of my threads last year :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Why don't you answer the questions?

Have you ever been to a BNP meeting.

Do you actually know any-one In the BNP

And any chance you can find something a little more recent than the tired old dated quotes you come up with curtesy of Wiki or You Tube?

Are you confusing the BNP with the EDL or Combat 18? Unless you've never heard of them either? :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Since I have already answered that question, I can only assume you don't read or can't understand my replies.

When you can't deal with the truth, move to ridicule. Ties in nicely with BTS' thread: Rule 5.

I am certainly not giving you any further information than is already out there - which is that I have been, am and will continue to be a Liberal Democrat activist.

Tired, outdated quotes - you really don't like it that these are the real opinions of your members. Sorry, but your guys said them - your LEADER said them. They are criminals and fascists and YOU support them.

Oh, the banality of evil. It has been sad watching you fall.

Like religious extremists political extremists are so beyond reason that sometimes the only way to deal with them is to fight. to paraphrase woody allan

I think you should defend to the death their right to march, and then go down and meet them with baseball bats

I know.:-1 I am very concerned at the level of support they have. It's just like Hitler's Germany: People (this is a general point about comments in support of the BNP, not aimed just at oscar) saying that Griffin may go a bit too far on one or two issues, but they generally agree with his policies. Then it turns out they have no real idea what his policies are - they project their own hopes and fears onto him and say THOSE are his policies.

The parallels are fascinating, historically speaking. Not to mention scary.

How about answering the questions?

Do you actually know any BNP members?

Have you ever been to a BNP meeting?

So, you claim that Griffin followers generally agree with his policies? Ok then.. as you are the Political voice, why don't you tell us exactly what Griffin's or BNP policies are? No googling allowed :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

When you have finished telling us what you think you know and we don't know, could you write what policies you claim are lies and why they are lies?

I mean you obviousley have met many many BNP members and attended all manner of rallies and meetings along with knowing Griffin and Parry personaly to be able to state with such authority on a public forum that it Is lies. Do enlighten us dear Clod.

BTW. Instead of 24hourforum, why don't don't you pop over to the English Democrat Forum and share your views there? I'll sit back and wtach the fireworks :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

I was talking about the comparison between the Nazi methods of the 1920s compared to the modern BNP methods and noting the parallels. You won't see them of course.

And I have no intention of answering your questions. You don't answer mine - heck , the evidence of this thread suggests you often don't even read them! You carry on setting up an Aunt Sally and shooting it down. It makes for entertaining viewing.

Regarding the BNP: I've reseached them. I've talked to journalist mates who have researched them. I have talked to the police about them. They are a bunch of fascist sickos with a slimeball in charge who is smart enough to fool the credulous.

Reducing the "discussion" to classroom insults doesn't make you look particularly good, by the way. And abuse from a fascist is a compliment.:wah:

A little taste of Griffin on Question Time, for those who don't know about him:

Young audience member, in skullcap: Sir Winston Churchill put everything on the line so that my ancestors wouldn't get slaughtered in the concentration camps. But here sits a man who says that that's a myth, just like a flat world was a myth. How could you say that? How could you?

Nick Griffin: I cannot explain why I used to say these things, I can't tell you, no... (boos from audience) any more than I can tell you why I've changed my mind, I can't tell you the extent to which I've changed my mind, because European law prevents me.

Jack Straw: There is no law here that stops you explaining yourself.

Chris Huhne: And we refused a European arrest warrant on precisely this from a country that does require holocaust denial to be an offence. And we refused that.

Jack Straw: And as the justice minister, I promise you, if you want to explain why you don't believe it ...

Bonnie Greer: Go on, Nick, tell us!

Chris Huhne: Go ahead!

David Dimbleby: You have the freedom now to explain it.

Nick Griffin: But unfortunately, the French courts and the German courts would not recognise that freedom.

Note the dodge. Well, two of them?

1) He can't tell us because the law doesn't allow him ("Look how oppressed I am!"). Denied by the Justice Minister giving a public assurance that he could explain himself without fear of prosecution.

2) He can't tell us the extent to which he's changed his mind? Yes he could. He could simply have said he was totally wrong. He didn't.

Little weasel. I don't count the french and german court comment as a dodge. He was badly rattled and floundering. He did successfully avoid the question, but it showed.

Popped over to have a look at the English Democrat site. More nuts than yer average fruitcake, but good nuts, on the whole. Don't see why I'd want to post there, though.

Find S***mfront more interesting for keeping an eye on the enemy - that's where the BNP lurk. Site is apparently owned by David Duke, ex top man of the Ku Klux Klan. Also the man responsible for trying to make the KKK respectable and I suspect, the person who gave Griffin the ideas and confidence to do the same thing with the BNP.

(I've slightly disguised the name of the site to protect the innocent).

Reports of racial and religiously motivated crime rose following the election of British National party councillors in several far- right strongholds, police statistics have revealed.

Complaints of hate crime increased in wards in the West Midlands, London and Essex after the election of a BNP member, in spite of declines in reported hate crime in the wider police areas. In other wards race crime reportedly rose in the runup to BNP election victories, according to the figures, obtained by the Guardian under the Freedom of Information Act.

This is a good topic. I live in a bedroom community outsde of Vancouver,

Canada where the 2010 Olympics are going to begin on Feb 12/10. We are already suffering the back lash of what is going to begin. We have already road closures, post office boces being taped up, and being innudated on a daily basis of what is to come. Our government thinks that this is going to really drill up alot of tourism for B.C. in the next few years - at this point - we don't have any F---- snow on the mountains where they are supposed to do their runs!!!

The government here are total idiots in my opinion, we are going and so will may grandkids pay for this fiasco for years and years to come.

I hate this government.

Moonpie: Had to laugh - most of us here in London are pretty apprehensive about our Olympics. Given the financial situation I reckon they should just shut the M25 for a month and hold everything on that.

The Liberal Democrats are considering a plan to channel immigration to certain areas of the country.

Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg told BBC One's Andrew Marr show the South East of England was facing pressure on resources due to its rising population.

He said other countries had shown it was "relatively easy" to target immigration at areas with proven labour shortages and away from crowded ones.

So what all that bullshyte actually comes down to Is that you have never met or talked to a member of the BNP, never been to a meeting, never met or heard Griffin or Parry speak other than QT but Hey !!!! Your the voice :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl This makes you nothing more than one of a very tedious long army of armchair critics. Infact, I have to say that I'm blown away by your Insight Into the BNP considering that you have never actually met a BNP member. Considering that Griffin himself has not quite finished the new Manifesto ready for the election, It seems you also have physic ability also.

As for claiming I reduce the discussion to classroom Insults then I suggest you look back over your posts.

By saying you have researched the BNP, well, we can all say that. Why don;t you actually answer the questions repeatedly put to you throughout this thread?

What are the BNP policies and what do you claim are lies? You can't answer can you? If you can, then without googling (Because you have researched them) you will be able to give us a detailed anaylsis. I use the word anaylisis rather than the tired old crap you seem to dredge up on Wiki. Perhaps for example, you'd like to give us Griffin's FULL speech on the Ghurkha's and not just the edited qoutes you look for on You Tube?

How can any-one take you seriousley when It was only a few months ago that you learned of the UAF? And you think you are the voice? :yh_rotfl Your a wannabe that will be a neverbe. You THINK you are some Oracle of wisdom when your posts are childish, not factual, non Imformative and way off beam. If you want to research the BNP correctly looking for any old crap from expelled members on Wiki, then have the balls to attend a BNP meeting in your area. Then, we might take you seriousley.

As you claim you have redearched the BNP... tell me Oh Imformed one... What Is the The BNP Policy on Hedgehogs, Indiginous livestock to the UK, and Exclusitivity contracts for farmers? Come on let's hear It, Oh Imformed one :yh_rotfl

As for speaking to Police Officers... Big Deal... I speak to Police Officers at PACT meetings every week. I also know how they feel about the BNP.

I have also spoken to Journalists and they are the first to admit that It is normal practice to never show the BNP in a good light.

Clodhopper's right you don't read posts do you. Let me put it for you in simpler language.

The inane babbling you come out with are hardly likely to do much to attract people to the BNP-at least not anyone with a modicum of common sense.

Oh sod it I find it quite difficult to dumb down to the daily mail level

You're not interested in debate merely spouting its out the last brochure you read

Ah the calm reasoned argument of the BNP activist-that's sarcasm oscar in case you don't realise it.

If you don't want discussion why bother going on a discussion forum where you know you will encounter a different viewpoint? Perhaps you should confine your attention to the right wing forum arena where intellectual halfwits indulge in the form of intellectual masturbation that passes for political debate that you seem to prefer.

It's funny. I just substitute a government class the other night for a friend. The very first chapter of the book had some REALLY interesting things to say about why government exists and its primary role in people's lives.

One thing I remember, it said the fourth primary role of a government was to stabilize and protect the economy.

Well, I guess we blew that one.

The Government Is suppossedly there to stabilize and protect, some-thing our Politicians forget when they are de-frauding the tax payer and the very people they are elected to protect. We expect our elected to do what Is right by us yet we are constantly let down and exposed to their scandals, fraud and Ineptness. The same with Police Officers who swear the oath to serve and protect the public, then lie under oath in court. Instead of making excuses for the scum Politicians who only seek to line their own pockets, we need to vote them out, that Is of course, until the day, we have the right to vote taken from us by Government.

Our textbook, "United States Government: Democracy in Action," by Richard C. Remy, Ph.D.

I quote, "Today governments serve several major purposes for the State:

1. To maintain social order.

2. To provide public services.

3. To provide for National Security and a common defense.

4. To provide for and control the economic system."

Under the "making economic decisions heading" I got:

"Governments pass laws that shape the economic environment of the nation." My class got into a spirited discussion about deregulation of the housing industry and the greed-crime of giving loans with sliding scales to people who can't afford them (Fiscal irresponsibility.) Smart kids.;)

Your view of debate is - by your actions - to talk rubbish loudly until others give up and go away. You dodge questions, change the subject and are interested not in the truth, but "winning". Pathetic.

It's a shame to see such drive and energy so misused.

that Is of course, until the day, we have the right to vote taken from us by Government.

Any evidence for this? Or is it just more BNP propaganda, scare tactics and lies?

1. To maintain social order.

That's an interesting one. I assume it means what we call "keeping the peace"? It could be read as meaning, "Keeping things as they are." In other words, limiting social mobility. Which would be disastrous...

I think she's forgotten to take it whatever it is

Actually, I was wondering if she's on one with sedative or hallucinatory side effects. Would explain a few things.
