One moment...
This moment In my life was so special to me that I had to write It some-where although It lasted probably a nano-second.
Last night as per usual I went out to the foxes and as per usual, the local stray cats were milling about for food.
I have fed my pack for many years but the pack leader I call Clarkson after Jeremy Clarkson has been coming for 7 years now every night.
I never, never hand feed them, always putting the food on the ground. All the foxes come very close to me and I have never attempted to touch them even when they have brought tiny fluffy cubs out.
After a 7 year relationship with Clarkson, last night left me shaking.
The local strays were milling around the food being a nuisence. One In particular, a little black and white thing, not very old, gives Clarkson a hard time by pronking up to him wanting to play. Clarky Boy's never Interested, he just wants his food.
Last night, I put a pile of food on the ground, one stray went straight for the cooked chicken while the black and white Kitty pronked all around Clarkson. He kept advancing to the pile of food only for Kitty to pronk again. So, I bent down, picked up a lump of Lamb for Clarkson and I was just about to throw It over to him.
With this he took the lamb from my hand before I had chance to throw It.
I thought, this Is trust In the extreme. If only Mr O was out there with the camera.
It may not mean alot to some but to me It meant so much. :driving:

Thanks Cars... It meant the world to me. He took that lump of lamb so gently and I never even felt his teeth or lips. It was like he knew I sympathised that he couldn't get near the food for the Kitty pronking at him. He saw I was about to help him.
I always respect they are wild animals and would never do any-thing to compromise their Instincts.

It also totally destroys the theory that wild foxes kill cats.

He Is one smart Fox.
I remember one night, he was eating, looked up In the Pitch darkness of the night and ran. I looked all around and couldn't see what had spooked him. It was a good 2 minutes before some-one walked down the lane.

Oscar, their hearing is incredible. One night, in summer, I was looking out of our window and I could see a fox across the other side of the playpark, about 100 yards away from our house - he was a beautiful dog fox. He was chewing at something, rather busily, and apparently taking no notice of anything around him. My sitting room windows were open very slightly, just for a little ventilation, and there was absolutely no sound at all from our house. I was standing perfectly still, watching. Unfortunately I inadvertently caught a pub beer mat, that was lying on a small table, and it fell to the floor. The fox instantly stopped chewing and looked straight up at my window, then quickly ran for the cover of the boundary hedge of the primary school and out of sight. The sound of the mat falling to the floor was barely audible by me!

That's amazing.
I watch my pack eating and all will be munching away and then suddenly all of them will look up staring In the same direction at some-thing that Is not audible or can be seen by me.
When they first arrive every evening, they sit behind a wire fence Until I come out. There Is 3 Terriers barkly manically In their faces and they just roll their eyes In amusement. They know that the fence won't be opened by me until the dogs are shut Inside the house.

Well, last night was also a first.
Same problem,... Pesky Stray cats pronking at the big Fella so I bent down to pick up some meat to throw him again. He advanced forward at the same time and we bumped heads.
Stumpy advanced also with this... the closest the newbie has been to me. Maybe he thought If the Big Fella trusted me, then so would he.

More developments at the Oscar Towers Fox home.
No sign of the Big Fella last night and only one pesky stray cat to contend with who whipped a chicken drumstick right under the nose of Stumpy the Newbie and carried It under my car.
Only last night, Stumpy the Newbie was no longer the Newbie. After he had taken his chicken quarter like a bolt of lightening, a stranger appeared from the school next door. I would guess he was around 12 weeks old as he had that German Shepherd puppy look with enormous ears. Much darker In colour from the Big Fella's pack who have white on their chests and tails.
As new cubs arrive It means very often that the previous years cubs move on.
