Tornado Tears Through Mississippi at the weekend.

Post by G#Gill »

700 properties destroyed, 12 deaths, worst hit was Yazoo. This tornado has been likened to Hurricane Katrina, for the devastation it left. Apparently it was about a mile wide! It also lasted for an incredible hour, when most tornadoes just touch down for a few minutes, 20 at most.

My thoughts are with all the people affected by this terrifying experience.

I just hope that if there is anybody who is a member of Forum Garden who lives in that area, that they are OK, and they still have a roof over their heads! We've got it easy in the UK compared to other countries, although we do get the occasional devastating flood!

It is now the tornado season over in Mississippi and other southern states, so I suppose this fella is just a forerunner of more trauma! I'm so glad I don't live there!:(:(

I know there are those who believe these are warnings from God for sinful living and I'm wondering what the state of Mississippi did that annoyed God this much.

Oops, I forgot, they elected Haley Barber as Governor.

I was down there just last month. Pretty State!

‘All I had time to do was ask the Lord to save me, and he did,’ one man says.

Violent storms kill 12 in Miss., Ala. - Weather- msnbc.com

Dale Thrasher was inside the Baptist church under a table when the church collapsed and asked the Lord to save him and thankful he did. He believed through his faith that the Lord saved him from death. Didn't do much for a member of his wife's family that was killed during the tornado trying to protect her children.

I don't think the State of Mississippi did anything that annoyed God. It's mother nature wreaking havoc all over.

I'm not making lite of a tragedy. I feel for those that are suffering. Though it is interesting the phrases we use to describe events such as this.

Whether its due in part or all to things we've done here, it is a curious time to be alive - weather and otherwise.

Is the planet remaking/reshaping itself? If so, will there be any survivors?

It is a fasinacting time to be living in. How things change with time.

Can only speculate, but I do believe there will be those that survive and life will go on.

The rate we're going it's more there will be species that will survive and life will go on. We're already in the realms of an extinction event and hardly started yet.

No, I mean that if conditions continue to deteriorate and no action is taken the current extinction event could become severe enough to include the large mammals including humans.

Dreadful news....Those poor people. I can't even imagine how I'd deal with the aftermath of a tornado, especially dealing with the loss of loved ones.
