The Duchess of York offered to sell "access to her husband" to a News of the World reporter for a large sum of money. That's bad enough, but then she was interviewed by someone called "Oprah Winfrey", on a "chat show", and said that she'd been blotto "before" making this offer.

I believe Sophie of Wessex was set up in similar fashion by this third rate rag so i'd have thought the Royals would be rather apprehensive of men in flowing robes bearing gifts and money deals.
