Loneliness and how to overcome it?

Post by medicinehat1 »

Have you ever moved to a new town or city where you knew no-one at all and basically had to start again from scratch? How did you do it? How did you get to know people, what are particularly successful ways without having to spend too much money when you're on a small salary in any case?

Some cities or communities have a "New Comers Club" that distribute information about the community, discount coupons etc. The whole purpose is to greet new comers, make them feel welcome and let them know what is available.---Check and see---Also, what are your interests? Use your computer to seek out information in your area re: those interests. Be assertive.

Volunteer at a hospital. You'll meet staff, patients, their families, etc.

Welcome, medicinehat!

First, get yourself a local newspaper and read it.

Take a walk around your neighborhood.

Try this website:

Most important, give yourself some time. Friends aren't usually made overnight. Give folks time to get to know you. Good luck!
