Groups; Private or Public.

Hello,

I've made up a new Group "Binbag Cottage" and I can't decide whether to make it public or not. I labelled it Private at first, however I've just now made it Public.

If anyone started their own group, and has the time, would you tell me, just briefly, if you advise a Private or Public group from your experience please.

I don't object to it being public as long as nothing silly is posted in. (know what I mean?)

I think you may be able to set it so that you can moderate the posts in rthere yourself Binbag, im going now to check it out for you:D

yes the options are public, moderated, and invite only. There's also an option further down for posts to be approved by you first. Anyway you can always just give it a try whichever way you want, and then change it if you want to at a later date:guitarist

I must be thick as I just cannot find the area that will allow me to make changes to my group.

ie. From "Public" to "+Join"

Could anyone advise me please.

I don't get the whole Group thing.

Why join a public forum and then go off into smaller groups?

Then you have to start joining all these groups to get into conversations.

Hello mikeinie, thanks for your reply.

I'd like to change my group from "Public" to "Join" to give me an indication of how many are interested and how many views it's receiving.

As you can see it's a new group, so early days yet.

There's only a few replies so I've no idea how many are having a look.

hi.. im not sure if you have sorted this yet,, i went to my group buy the way of clicking on groups on the green tab at the top of the page. under my pic of my group it says edit click on there and then you have the option of public, moderated or by invitation. Im confused though as when i first went there i joined? :-2

you should make it public, if you become a supporting member, you can delete posts you don't like, same as in blogs.

I suppose the group is best being public for I'm not posting articles for my own benefit.......

thinking on it ,, i dont think you will see +join as you are the owner ,,, other people should be able to see it though:)

Just use the group facility whichever way suits you binbag ,, thats why they are there and have the different options at your disposal after all:-6

I had an idea if I cleared F/Fox cookies then come back in as a visitor, I would see the "+Join".....wrong :-3

Guess I'll leave it public (again. lol)
