I am going to Fish...

Post by Oscar Namechange »

Tomorrow I have been suckered Into accompanying Mr O Fishing.

Due to his Illness, his days on the river are numbered as he Is unable to scale the bank to some of the swims.

I have no Idea of what I am doing.

Mr O has got me a licence for the day and sorted out my tackle. He did begin to bang on tonight as weather I ought to have a centre Pin reel, a fixed spool reel and other such nonsense..

Then... would I need a 5lb hook or a 15lb hook.

Would I need a light fly rod or a heavy duty bugger...

The only thing I need to know, Is, will It It catch me a fish?

We are going after Mirror Carp tomorrow so If I return to this thread tomorrow evening with a pic of me and fish, I can gloat.

If I do not return then I will have been suitably embarressed.

The only piece of tackle I am Interested In Is a bite alarm so that I can go to sleep and be notified of a bite.

Enjoy sounds like fun to me. If you catch anything it will be a good day. :)

Take a book, I used to spend hours bored to tears on the banks when I was married. Although, there is the possiblilty that you will catch loads, fish prefer your pheromones apparently. My ex used to tie his own flies and would whip strands of hair out of my head! Claimed those flies were the most succesful, then on the days I had a go and cast out I'd get bites straight away and that would annoy him lol

I have cried off so he Is going alone to a lake that he can get easy access to the water. I had hardly any sleep last night and I can not wait to get In that hospital tomorrow. Yes, It Is definatly tomorrow morning.... I checked and Pete rang the hospital.

Talking of pheromones... there Is one seasoned angler local who takes a pair of his wifes tights fishing with him and he swears by It.

I remember one time we went and I sat right by the waters edge crumbling bread Into the water. he was standing there for hours like a lemon with his rod and I had massive carp practically feeding from my hands..

I remember going fishing with my hubby, before we were married. He set me up with all the kit, even put the maggot on the hook for me! He showed me how to cast, then walked about 8 feet away from me and set his own kit up, optimistically putting a keep net in the water's edge ! I'd hardly cast my line, when the float bobbed under the water, so I struck (like he'd shown me), out came a nice little fish. Don't ask me what it was! He put another maggot on my hook, having placed the fish in the keep net, and off we went again! After about 2 hours, Chris suggested we call it a day - he had caught nothing ! :lips: I, on the other hand, only 8 feet away from him on the bank, had caught 8 or so fish! :yh_rotfl "Beginner's luck!" yeh, right.............. he was not very happy about things, as he let the fish out of the net back into the lake. I'm afraid I had a good chuckle - it was the look of perplexity on Chris's face that really made me laugh! I did go fishing again, occasionally, with Chris, but it never really had the same satisfaction as my first effort! :)

:wah::wah: That Is EXACTLY what Pete would say to me... Beginners luck..

I did the exact same to him when I took him to a Dog Track for the first time In his life... I went through the Race-card telling him how to add up the times from previous form and get an average speed and distance.

I rattled on about weather It had been raining and that would mean because the track was ever so slightly slanted to the right, the In-Side traps would be water-logged making traps 1 and 2 safer for a 'through the card' bet and r/v fore-casts.

Then I told him to watch how the dog entered the trap focusing on the moment the hare ran. If the dog was crouching down as the hare ran... he would do better.

I got him to watch every dog as It paraded for bounce.

I went through all the pro's and cons of betting on the Tote Or with an on course Bookmaker.

In other words... I gave him all my Insider tips and knowledge only to have him say... 'I am backing that one... I like his tail'

At the end of the evening he could not stop laughing and I went off with the hump mumbling ... 'huh.. Beginners luck.

I had visions of Mr O threading that hook in your top lip and casting you out as far as he could

Ah, have fun, a nice day in the outdoors.

I play Uno every night now, my husband remembers how to play. (but I am getting tired of that game! And you can't say no to their requests!)

One of the first things I want to do once this cast is off is to go fishing. I love fishing.
