Our local paper today has an article on homeowners in a nearby town who
donated their "estate-like" hillside home for firefighter training. They wanted
to build a newer house and apparently the cost was too much just
to remodel.
The training exercise lasted about 10 hours and involved about 25
firefighters and volunteers. All that was left at the end of the day was the
view (of 100 acres!!) and a backyard pool.
Best of all, for the owners, donating the house for the training counts as
a tax-deductible charitable contribution!
