Radio Drama

Post by koan »

Whenever I think of it, War Of The Worlds is the only one to come to mind. Video killed the radio star... except in England. The BBC seems to be really big on the talking thing.

Anyone here listen to radio drama? What makes one better than another?

I understand that BBC aired a radio play of Hermann Hesse's Glass Bead Game, but I wasn't able to listen to it from here.

Have you tried this link?

BBC Radio - The home of BBC Radio on the internet

When you drive a lot you tend to listen to the radio and a lot of people will commute for and hour or more in the car going to work and you get fed up with the music stations after a while but I prefer discussion to plays and will tune away from one. There are a couple of radio soaps that are very popular, the archers and another one whose name escapes me. I thought you had a lot of radio talk shows in the states and Canada, they can't all be rap and country and western can they?

America still has the War of the Worlds playing out on the radio, the only difference is the narrator has changed from Orson Wells to Rush Limpbaugh and the aliens have been identified as liberals. Rush and others like him claim liberals are taking over the country and plan to destroy it.

Where you been? Canada or something?

Attention spans aren't what they used to be. I transfer audio books to my ipod so I can listen to them on the way to work and on my lunch break. There's lots of talk radio but no "story time".
