Secret Poison Case Disguised As A Book.

Post by jones jones »

Secret poison case disguised as a book, 17th century.

This is pretty amazing and being in the trade I should know more about it but regret I do not. Does anyone know the history of such an item?

This is what your average pre-Victorian GP's poison box would have looked like ...

So for these poisons to have been hidden in this way means that they were intended to be used by assassins/murderers. Obviously a box such as the book-shaped one would have been hidden in a bookcase/library.

My search continues ...........
