Has anyone on here had Shingles REALLY,REALLY bad?

Post by Bridget »

I have been suffering with shingles for about three weeks. Have had them before but not as bad as this. Some days all I want to do is lay around and pop pain pills. In January I took a really bad fall and had to have 14 atitches to my face, knocked out a front tooth, black eye, broke my glasses. The doctor says it is the trauma from the fall.Would like to hear from anyone who has suffered from them. :yh_beatup

Ouch! shingles are painful I remember my Mum having them and being in agony. It was some years later that I ended up with shingles, I'd actually gone to the doctor thinking I had a lump in my breast, turned out it was a swollen gland as on examining me the doctor saw the tell tale shingles. I was prescribed a medicine to reduce the shingles attack which stopped any more spots forming. Even so I remember feeling incredibly rough for a good three weeks. Hope you are feeling better soon!

I sympathise Bridget, I really do.

I've been blighted by outbreaks approx every 10 years all my life.

The pain and length you suffer tends to vary from patient to patient.

This may help:

Shingles - Symptoms - NHS Choices

I always feel exhausted during my outbreaks so get plenty of rest.

I hope you'll feel better soon.... Take care

Thanks Oscar for the directive. It helps to know that there will be sunny days again.

Usually shingles appear after a head injury.

Shingles are a nerve injury - stress provokes out breaks - stress determines and length of out break.

Chiropractic care will help decrease the out breaks & pain.
