I rely solely on good hard drugs.... Prescription of course but I do suffer.

I usually suffer when I have something the next day that I must not miss but means getting up at 5 am to catch the train etc. I then can't sleep for worrying that I will over-sleep.

I get the laptop out and check the entire weeks racing results.... that does It.

Tipping limits and SWL limits for cables shouldn't be too bad - it's the sign language I'd struggle with.

signs and whistles I have no problem with. Iv'e been warned that the first two days is all maths and then a test at the end. I'm a guestimator ..I'm one of those people who can look at somthing and say "nope not right undo it" I don't know why it doesn't look right it just doesn't . I have no confidence in formulas to many variables in the real world.

Actually my fiancee is about to put up a flag pole in his front garden soon. He told me how he's going to do it... I asked if I could film it . He said "yep, to show the world how it's done?" I presume you'll have access to the tables and not have to remember the load factors for each type of hitch for each angle.

Given those, the maths is easy - relying on memorising the factors would be a recipe for disaster.

it was actually a funny conversation His comeback was "we better do it right then , all on the day have to wear thongs(flip flops) and singlets. No hardhats required because nothing will go wrong" He says that while we standing at the point of a giant hole in his front garden during what would be considered gale force winds...*shudders* I'll have the camera on Zoom me thinks cause i'm not standing near it. One time in my life where I'm happy to make the pot of tea. lol

It's my belief that 60 90 and 120 are the most common angles to use so if you stick with that it can be done in your head. But I'm sure on Monday that belief will be smashed to smitherenes.

See this is what I mean. Take hooks for example if your line is straight through the middle it will carry 100% of the load under it's capacity to carry that load. If the angle changes then the WL capacity falls by percentages. If angled incorrectly it falls below 40% so all hooks are are attached facing outwards from the load to give it the straight line...... That I understand..... a bunch of figures on a page makes no sense whatsever.

The balance I find harder is calculating the best spread to use - the wider the more stable but the lower the weight limit so do you work from the available cable or is there an optimum spread angle and you find the cable required from that? If so then why the huge range of angles in the tables?
