Bit of an over reaction...
I laughed my socks off at the jokes as did my teenage son.
My daughter, had she been up just wouldn't have got it and would have forgotten what was said immediately. So Mr Rogerson's comment
"I don't want kids in Cornwall to see this kind of thing and and think, 'Is there something about me, maybe I'm not as bright as all the others, maybe I haven't got the chance to be as successful as everybody else.'"
BBC News - Cornish joke on Have I Got News For You sparks MP anger
seems a bit bizarre, let's credit Cornish teens with a sense of humour hey! Seeing as the programme is broadcast after 9pm I can't see other 'kids' would have even heard it.

Seems most people down there have kept it in proportion.
How, incidentally, has the Air link to London affected things down there? Is it bringing more money in?

The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"
Lone voice: "I'm not."

It is a variation on a joke that could include any area, such as North Londoners v South Londoners, my side of the family or the in laws side.
I watched it and never noticed......now I might use the Cornish rather than the Irish next time a similar joke needs telling.

I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

The more generic South Western Yokel has been a matter of amusement to the rest of the nation since writing was invented and quite likely longer. His quintessent apotheosis is Cornish.
'Ee made I laugh though.

Pass :wah: to be honest I had to go to the airport site and see if we're still flying there daily. Seems we are, three times a day. I'm sure that's an improvement on last time I looked. Seems to me the airport is always in the news saying that flights are being stopped as there's no call for them. The trouble with Newquay airport is it's in the middle of nowhere and there's not much public transport around, certainly if locals are using the airport they would need to drive or to be dropped off and fetched again. Looking at the prices they seem more affordable than the trains at the moment.

Had the impression it was supposed to bring in the surfers and weekenders a bit more, which is why I asked.

More than a bit I would say. Imagine british humour if the scots, welsh irish and english never took the piss out of each other.
Monty Python - Four Yorkshiremen - YouTube
not to mention yorkshire and lancashire, geordies etc etc etc. He should be pleased the Cornish are actually seen as a distinct group, it's a back handed compliment.
speaking of racism
Fat Bastard - Get In My Belly! - YouTube
Now if a british film-maker made a skit on Americans can you imagine the reaction? It takes a great deal of self confidence to be able to laugh at the feeble humour of lesser tribal subgroups.

Seems Captain Kirk upset some more people up in Ilfracombe.
Here's the report of his apology to the people that live there... sort of an apology
it's not really an apology at all but I found it very funny :wah:
BBC News - William Shatner sorry for Ilfracombe prostitution joke

After asking around a bit it does indeed bring money and people into Newquay. We're all just a bit too far south of it to benefit directly here. But lots of locals around here make use of it instead of the trains when they can book cheap flights. Might even be me headed to that airport later this year, sis is 50 and we're taking her away, Dublin or Edinburgh, we've not fully made up our minds yet.
