Akin pledges to stay in race following rape comments, GOP criticism - First Read

___________

As much as I disagree with the guys stand on the issue, I find it dusgusting that stating something this poorly makes the guy a candidate for crucifiction.

What I think is disgusting is a man this ignorant is trying to dictate women's health care and reproductive choices.

It stood out as an astounding example of the bizarre things people hear and decide are legitimate truths. I think he really believes what he said and that he's surprised other people aren't aware of what he thinks are facts.

I'm pretty sure everybody has something they believe is a fact which would surprise other people. Perhaps it would be more useful for people to react with concern for him. Try to explain his mistake in a helpful manner.

That would only work if he was willing to accept the concept that he might be wrong.

Over here the candidates local party would have deselected him by the next morning knowing that he would be unelectable. By that afternoon the national party would have rescinded his membership.

Since it's apparently his job to decide women's reproductive rights, you'd think he'd try to educate himself rather than assume that women's bodies can prevent getting pregnant in certain circumstances.

What's happening in America is that politicians get elected for lying to us.

I think politicians should be encouraged to give us their true and honest opinion on issues, so that we can make informed choices.

If this guy survives this, we have just seen the last unscripted words of his political life.

Will his views have changed? Nope. Just what we know of them.

The sad thing is he probably believes what he is saying - how can anyone be so ignorant in this day and age. If a woman says she is pregnant because of rape she must be lying since women who are really raped don't get pregnant?! How do all the mixed race descendants of former slaves in america feel about that one?

Does not Mitt Romney feel the same way on this issue as well as his VP candidate? God help america.

I was thinking about that yesterday. It would benefit the population to refuse to participate in polls and to withhold as much info as we can about what views we like or dislike so politicians are stuck with what they actually think and believe instead of a list of popular opinions they can parrot.

It's a catch 22 though. They can't follow the will of the majority unless we tell them what we want but the will of the majority only changes what they say, not what they do.

Ryan is that stupid. In his case I might be generous & say "that stubborn" which is a form of stupidity, so ok Y, there you go. Ryan & whatshisname had their thick heads together writing bills on the subject. They are brothers in stupidity, arrogance & pushing their will on others.
