I think Doyle Dikes ( No1 ) is a very fine guitarist as is Felix Martin ( No 7 ) Most of the others I'm indifferent about

I would have considered Adrian Belew to be reasonable well known, if only for that track alone.

I like this thread....

To this day, I claim the most under-estimated and under recognised guitarist Is John Ellis. He Is certainly the most brilliant guitarist I have ever seen and I've seen hundreds of bands live.

He stood In for The Stranglers after the departure of Hugh Cornwell between 1990 and 2000.

Sadly, there Is very little of his work on you tube and this clip Is about the only decent one of him and then, the track doesn't do him credit.

The Stranglers - Down In The Sewer ( Royal Albert Hall ) - YouTube

Can you see me In the crowd?

John Ellis on electric guitar to the right .... Jean Jacques Burnel ( Mega swoon ) on the left on bass.

I'd tend to agree with your assessment.

Those two are the only guys I would go to listen to.

A couple of the others made me want to go rescue their guitars.

Such abuse of a fine instrument should be illegal.
