They are so 'Peaceful' That They Killed the U.S. Ambassador and 3 others, Plus Attacked many Others who had Nothing to do With the Film. So, if you Offend Islam, They Will Murder Innocent People and try to Murder the Offender as Well.

I've noticed a pattern in all of the media here lately on this subject, a pattern that if you think about it has always been present in one form or another.
It seems a lot of westerners hold the feelings of other people (in this instance, Muslims) in a lesser light. Are the feelings of Muslims about this subject really not as important?

It was in Benghazi that the ambassador was killed.
Do try to keep up. Benghazi is not in Yemen.
Those folks would be angry no matter WHAT religion they were.
Not really sure I blame them.
If I had to live is such a place, I'd probably be angry, too.

Everyone's personal beliefs are held higher than everyone else's. Even the self-sacrificing people of this world believe that what they are doing is best for them.
To me, any religion we choose to elevate our souls is like the clothes we wear on our bodies. And, no matter how expensive or attractive those clothes may be, if your body is unclean people will smell you.
It isn't the religion that stinks here; it's what lies within the murderous hearts of the people that would use any excuse to spread their hate.

Didn't read the story you linked to, did you?
It looks like a terrorist organization took advantage of the protest to attack the American consulate. So the people protesting the movie aren't really the ones killing anyone, are they?
Say, what do you think of that movie anyway? How about that it appears to have been made by Christians for the sole purpose of inciting violence? Then lying to the actors about what they were doing, then dubbing in the offensive dialogue. Then lying to the media to frame Jews for making it. What a wonderful display of Christian values.

I so strongly disagree. The Angry Muslims are trying to hold the world hostage to their "sensitivities". The Angry Muslims kill over cartoons. You know, in this country, the right way to react would be to become a comedian. Works for Jews/Chris Rock, et. al. The World's Great Comedians come from backgrounds that contain immense suffering. Let the Angry Muslims lighten up. Let them worry about the feelings & sensitivities and human rights of the Muslim FEMALE population.
That is not to be taken that I feel baiting or insulting people deliberately is the right way to go. I most certainly don't.

I don't think the media cares what the public thinks. They are sure they already know.

I still don't get it, what the Muslims are doing is offensive to some people here BUT it seems they (Muslims) have no reason to be offended by this movie or are over reacting.
Like it or not, all people in the world do not have the same standards. Different societies have different standards.
The timing of this whole thing is kind of suspicious. Where is Bacile? Why isn't he in jail?

My wife was born and raised in Amman Jordan. Her mother is Muslim, her father was Christian. She walked in both worlds, lived in both. If she ever feels she needs to get on this forum she could give you an education.

That would be wonderful, Scrat. I'm sure we would all love to meet her, and of couse her input is important & would be welcome! Education is a good thing.

Unfortunately she refuses to participate. She considers it a waste of time. We all do have to keep in mind that your average Muslim couldn't care less about the politics. There is however a substantial number whom do however and are quite willing to make their feelings known.

2 lovely young Muslim ladies were brave enough to set up an information stand by my local subway station today. I didn't stick around to see if anyone harrassed them, but I made it a point to say hello & took the pamphlets they offered---one was on Mohammad & the other on the status of women. Their sabbath was yesterday. Yesterday that spot was taken by the local Hasidic tribe. Today is their sabbath, so the Muslims took it. Must be becoming the religious information table.
I think doing this was a good thing. They live here too. A mosque is being built nearby & this has caused a bit of tension in the area.
The Asians in the neighborhood, Chinese mostly, are starting to complain they are being ignored.
More of a crazy quilt than melting pot around here. I, of course, am above all that. (Just like Accountable expects of me) :yh_rotfl

Some of the most peaceful people I know are my brother, a Muslim, and his wife, a very strong willed Mulim woman who runs their household. They chose Islam in a world that led them to despair and Islam gave them comfort. Maybe for some people they find an excuse to kill others but you can't blame the religion, you can only blame people. More people have been killed in the name of Christ.

There are violent fanatics in almost all religions. I have friends who are Sufi and can't imagine them in any sort of violent scenario, despite the fact that they are Muslim. I have friends who are devout Christians, and I can't imagine them being involved with the Inquisition or the numerous wars and acts of violence tied to Christians. It is silly to blame a religion for the violent acts of a few people who identify with that religion.

I'm sure prior to WWII people who personally knew Germans held the same belief---that they had good, gentle friends who would never harm anyone. Then, events took over, & the "good" Germans were transformed into something not expected. It's hard to swear for anyone but yourself, and even that is sometimes difficult. People can be counted on to do things that are unpredictable, surprising & down-right astonishing.

ti cc&bit: I whole heartly agree with everthing you said. It is so sad that people and their families have to pay the price of a film they hads nothing to do with.

The one person In the UK that Brits would expect to have plenty to say on this subject and go Into some rant, would be Nick Griffin , leader of the far right BNP..
Having spent some time with him, I myself, would actually expect him to say something extremely crass and stupid... so I was surprised at his facebook status update...
Having heard and read some of the worlds so called experts on the subject, Nick Griffin summed It up perfectly In my eyes...
" The Film... The actors should be shot for ham acting... the director should be shot for warmongering and Muslims need a shot of humour"
Couldn't agree more..

I thought Muslim and Jew shared the same Sabbath.

Muslim sabbath is Friday; Jewish sabbath is Saturday (sundown Friday to sundown Saturday) & Christian sabbath is of course Sunday. So, if you live in a household where all three are celebrated I guess that kills the weekend.
