I just though would share with you a funny story that happened many yrs ago when i worked in retail shop in Kensington High Street, so as you can imagine we had alot of upper class customers. Anyway onewinter it snowed real heavy in old London town, so being one of the only ski shops in the area, we where bombarded with customers trying to buy snow boots,( take note the stockroom is downstairs in the basement, we are packed with customers and short staffed as usual, we have to shout down to the stockroom lad what we want because the shop floor is packed, everyone can here on the shop floor what we shout) the only model which is really selling because it looks groovy is called "FANNY" yes "FANNY", WE HAVE WHITE,BLACK OR BLUE,so all day long you can hear "i'll have a black fanny in a 37 or gimme a white fanny in 39" So, can you imagine the look on these customers faces! I think you would have had to havebeen there toappreciate the story, it made are day and it made a few customers laugh in what was a really busy working day.
cheers

On that same note, I used to work in London as a nanny, caring for the 2 year old daughter of some Americans who lived and worked here. After returning from a holiday to the States, they showed me some clothes they had bought for their daughter out there. One little dress was covered in tiny frills on the back, just where the dress covered the childs derriere. The dress was still in its cellophane wrapper and on the front of the dress, attached to the wrapper, was a HUGE sticker which read "Look at my fanny!" Well, it shocked the socks off me!!!
This still makes me chuckle now! At the time I thought I had heard all Americanisms....but that was the first time I heard that one!!! :wah:
Another Americanism which tickled me was when they ordered a burger with salad by saying....."One burger ~ drag it thru the garden!"
:wah: :wah:

Very funny and it`s amazing that they give products names like that! (Mind you it`s similarly unfortunate for people with surnames like Balls, Titt, etc!!!)

Another one I like is when ordering a pizza, I say I want a "garbage can." Everything on it.
