The Gharial – Good News for the Critically Endangered Indian Crocodile?

What an interesting animal! I hope it doesn't end up on the extinct list in a few years.

When I first saw the photos, I thought it looked like a crocodile had bred with a gar or possibly even a hair clip.

(???????)

What?? It could happen!! Maybe. :-2:sneaky:

Definitely makes you wonder what environment it's adapted to. I'd guess that it either has to pull its food from small holes or its prey is an odd shape.

OK, just looked. Apparently the adaptation is to allow it to swipe its head sideways in the water quickly enough to catch fish - neat!
