I wonder how many millions of tons of good food are wasted every year in the western world. This is an example of the dark side of capitalism, profit at any cost coupled with the consumers who act like spoiled children.

If you don't mind, Scrat, where do you live? Your local time points to West Coast USA, but aren't you British?
I don't act like a spoiled child with anything that costs money. Was raised by Depression era parents. If no one is using a room, then no lights are on in it. I'm good at not wasting.

I live just south of Seattle Anne. I also live in a place where suburban living is the rule and believe me, we are in general a spoiled and wasteful people. I myself have taken to avoiding such stores as Safeway, Albertsons and the like. Thankfully it's because my wife broke me of the habit of seeking convenience. I now drive further and go to places like DK market and the local Hong Kong Market. You don't find the prettiest veggies ect there but it's all the same. A lot of it is locally grown.
