I enjoyed this story of the imperial crown jewels and although I realize the unlikelihood of the missing pieces being recovered intact, stranger things have happened before. Things like this sometimes take interesting twists & turns as in the case of the librarians rediscovering the book to begin with and who knows, maybe some of the pieces will ultimately be found in someone's attic locked away in a great grandparent's old jewelry box or possibly in a display case of cheap costume jewelry at a Goodwill store.
I wish the photos were in color! The exquisite bracelet in the second article (on the far right of the page) would be gorgeous set with emeralds and diamonds but sadly b&w won't satisfy my curiosity on the matter.
