I'm at a loss as to how contention could have ever arisen, the Rolling Stones track is an essential component of Western civilization and Creedence Clearwater Revival are an obscure offshoot of Electric Folk. The first I would attach to space probes headed for the far side of the galaxy while CCR would be interesting to see if they play the Farmers Arms one night.

Bitch: 5-4.

Definitely Buddy Holly. No, I don't remember that doll for boys. In the early '80's my son was playing with He-Man action figures. Still have them, Castle Greyskull, Snake Mountain. I really got into it myself!!!! Nothing like reliving your childhood with your own kids! Double the fun. :-D

I googled My Buddy's picture, as your link doesn't have one. Nope, don't remember it, but it does remind me, a bit, of the Cabbage Patch dolls, which were also in the '80's. My boy was hooked on He-Man. Now, back to Rock 'n Roll!

Nope. I was a little old to play with dolls in the 80's

And we were away from all the grandkids back then.

If the Beatles entry had been something else, many other things else, I'd always go for the Beatles. But for the time the songs were out, For What It's Worth unequivocally represented it's time more definitively. Let It Be was considered mawkish & sentimental which seems to express our present time better than a raw, crude, powerful, candid window of a song like FWIW, a truthful look at the real paranoia of the sixties. I'm disappointed.

That's easy for you to say........

But seriously, this is where our two countries have different points of reference, For what its worth was only a song over here, The Beatles were/are a legend

The Beatles are MY Legend, too. I'll never forget where I was, how I FELT, the first time I heard them. I Want to Hold Your Hand was the first release here. I was 12 or 13 & my life changed Forever. But, the Vietnam War directed the way my life went, so you can understand my Great Dilemma! If the song choice were so many others but Let It Be, I probably would have gone with the Beatles.

Both songs are a part of my life, each means a lot to who I am, now. Tough to choose from when I bring personal history into the decision. I just flipped a coin, because it was that tough. In fact, I flipped it several times, and "Let it be" got 3 out of five tosses. I still think I should change my vote, but if I did, I would still think I should change my vote.

So, I'll just,...,

Let it Be.

I think you expressed that very well. FWIW was one of those songs, for me, where I can remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when I first heard it. It was immediately and almost urgently appropriate and captured a time. Let it Be will always be on my playlists because of it's timeless wisdom and because I like the song, but FWIW was a "stop and pay attention!" song.

I understand. I started going to Europe to get away from the whole thing. I just couldn't take my involvement anymore. By involvement I mean just living in the USA implied my consent. I didn't consent.
