Reading between the lines, the Brothers in Law were out for a laugh and to raise some money.

Whether their attire was acceptable or not is down to the Police, not a section of the community who feel aggrieved by it.

What can be done to overcome these sort of *cough* misunderstandings ?

I am not trying to be rude or offensive but this pisses me off.

My neighbour, my colleague, my friend are all muslim, but they all say: this is a "christian" country, we do not expect anything from anyone, we do not push our believes on to a christian (or any other religion), and if we don't agree with your believes or actions, we agree to disagree. But don't pick fights.

The people that threw rocks and eggs and called them names should have been arrested for assault (whether black, white or even purple with yellow spots).

Just like to add to that: would it be different and would the police action be different if it was the other was around.. ? .. Again i'd like to remind: i am not being offensive but i just wonder..

I think people have become scared of giving their opinion on things or acting out their actions because: ooh god you might offend someone..

When people see the headlines of the article you linked, they think It's a one off because unless you live In and around cities that have seen a rise In the last decade of these Muslim area's, from the comfort of their middle England armchair, they just don't see It or hear about It.

Poor council management created ethnic sink estates which then turn Into no-go zones. It's understandable that when a young white family are offered social housing, they will not want to accept a house on an estate where they are the only British and where they feel In an alien land so free houses are taken by more of the same and so the ethnic estate grows. Just as It's understandable that a Muslim family will not want to accept a house on an estate of white British red necks. Then we see white flight where white British feel so alienated In their own surroundings that they move out of the area. More and more Mosques go up to cater for the Muslim population along with Halal butchers and shops along with state schools becoming predominantly Muslim added with Sharia Law courts and within a decade, there's your no-go zone who want nothing British In their lives. More Muslims coming Into the country naturally want to be housed and settled In Muslim area's where they can be with their own kind.

It Is not the race for all races coming In the country such as Polish, Nigerian, Somalian etc etc will Integrate and assimilate even marrying white British and bearing children.

The problem Is the Islam faith where by the teachings of the Koran, they must not Integrate with the 'Kuffers', the non-believers. They become Insular In their own communities and see anything British as outside Influence and Interference, hence the rise In Honour Killings In this country. The authorities then live In so much fear of being branded racist, they dare not act.

All Immigrants will adapt and Integrate except the Muslim faith and that's why we are also seeing a rise In Far Right orgs and votes. Rather than adapt to our culture, they expect the country to adapt to their faith and In a Christian country, that was doomed to fail from the get go....

That's just what my dad taught me about being a Jew in America. Also, that we should help Christians any way we can, like offering to work their shifts on important holidays for them. What makes Muslim no-go zones virtually Inpenatrable Is that when an area becomes predominantly Muslim, they stand In local and General elections and Invariably get elected by the Muslim, population especially In area's like Tower Hamlets where white British are the minority at approx 40 percent of the population. I call it Civil Disobedience, emphasis on civility & Humour. We are not 10 years behind oscar, we are decades, centuries, ahead in "dealing" with immigrants. Eventually, we're a melting pot. I know Brits are different, I did live there & I do remember massive movements against (gasp!) Vietnam. Of course, Europeans complaining about that issue was acceptable.

The EDL, etc., have a reputation, whether fair or not. I'm not talking about a movement with that burden. Call it the Fun & Freedom movement, have young people want to be involved.

We have a similar thing here with ethnics voting in their own representation. In the end it doesn't matter because if restrictive it winds up in courts. i.e. The neighborhood I live in now, & grew up in was, in the early 1900's, purely Irish. Then the Italians started moving in. Then the Jews. In the beginnings, it wasn't peaceful between the Irish & Italian. Now, it is mostly Russian, & they push their representation. We also have many Muslims. I recently read the neighborhood will eventually be Hispanic & Asian. The Asians (esp. Chinese) already are in a huge majority in the neighboring neighborhood, formerly Italian. Things shift, things change with immigrant populations, which Britain is very new to. I know you enjoy thinking Britain is ahead of America in dealing with Muslims, but you are wrong. Life here, especially in cities like NY, is constantly changing, constant new immigration. Every language in the world is spoken here. Eventually, everyone settles in, or most everyone. The others are just accepted. No groups rules, or is allowed to. It is a standard that is upheld, whether because people willingly join, which is usually the case, or the courts make them join.

When this sort of topic crops up I notice the, Moderate, Tolerant, Middle England, liberal (with a small L) amongst us have little to say.

I don't know the reasons why, I am sure they are......at least......concerned, I know I am............ worried.

I have always lived in Southern England, first in London where the incoming immigrant population have made some areas unrecognisable from a few years ago. I am now in a market town in Kent, married to an immigrant, in an area within a minutes walking distance of a mosque, and two eastern European shops, and two new take aways. The character of this country has altered dramatically, much of it for the better or should I say.......it will all blend in sooner or later, but some of it very frightening.

Every Friday on our street there is a procession of cars and pedestrians going to the mosque, many are youths.They travel past an old church turned into a warehouse, and go to pray in an old public house that they own, the windows have been broken several times since they moved in.

I don't know what the answer is, I know it's not the BNP and UKIP.

I do think that any English eccentric raising money for charity should be able to travel through any part of this land dressed in any way that is deemed to be lawful to the general population.

In my village we have a small post office where the owners are Pakistani. He comes along to some social event I frequent and we have had some long chats about Immigration. He Is very proud to tell everyone and everyone that he came here under Harold Wilson and when he finally arrived, he felt priviliged and his dream come true. He views coming to England for a better life and he Is grateful for all England gave him. He Is the most charming of men and Integrates with everyone In the village. Equally so, my corner shop owned by a family of Sikh's have similar attitudes. My Turkish pals likewise. None of these would bat an eyelid should people walk around half dressed.

The biggest problem is in my opinion not ethnicity but religion. We have both Christian and muslim groups pushing extremes fundamentalist forms of their creed and demanding respect for their beliefs to the extent they want to prevent the teaching of science in particular anything to do with evolution. Ban all separate religious schools and force the children to mix at school age and a lot a the problems will go in a generation. Look at northern Ireland religious schools perpetuates the problem and it's the adults to blame for it all. Same with kids from all sied they learn the bigotry and hatred from their parents.

We have christian leaders popping up demanding the right to circumscribe the rights of people whose lifestyle they disapprove off yet those same bodies cover up child abuse and protect the perpetrators and then bleat about how allegations are being used to attack religious freedom. Any other body under these circumstances would be banned from ever having access to children again and their schools shut down.

We have a secular culture for a very good reason - it's the only kind that will encompass all and respect people's rights to live life as they choose. No one has even been stoned or ostracised for joining a church plenty that leave one find religious tolerance a limited fantasy.

I agree It's not ethnicity but religion. But having said that we are a Christian Country and remember settlers coming here are coming Into a Christian country with much of It's history and culture originating from Christianity and they know that when applying to come here.

The problem being that some areas are predominantly Asian and the schools have a majority muslim children attending them, the kids would have to be bussed out of their own areas.....................and I don't see that going down too well.

We were a Christian country and yes a lot of our moral and ethical values are based on that religious base, but we are rapidly becoming less christian. The rise in single parent families, sex before marriage and the lack of the need for marriage and our acceptance of that way of life proves that simple fact.

I believe the slackness of our modern morality/way of life, is one of the reasons that Islam has risen.

I agree there has been a decline In morality but that Is not just Indicative of the UK, that's a general decline throughout western civilisation.

The radical extremists In Christianity want to Impose those old family morals but Islam Is as diverse a culture to ours as you can get.

The point Is this.... If Tommy Robinson dressed In a suit and wandered around London with you then possibly he may go unchallenged but It's likely that at some point he would be recognised and be forced Into a confrontation because that's what happens to him on a daily basis without the tee shirts etc. He has been beaten up In the street without the tee shirts etc more times than he can remember.

Don't start me on about whether the flag should be worn in such a manner, I am the very opposite of a nationalist, but I feel it the worst insult you can give a country to tailor their flag so as to wear it..........

In the current climate anybody wearing a 'Help for Heroes' tee shirt and walking in a sensitive area is provoking problems........................and their reasons for doing so should be questioned.
