Jives is Back!

Post by Jives »

Hi Everybody! I missed you lots!

I'm back for the Summer, I'll be teaching Summer School Monday through Thursday from 8 to 1, and I'll most likely be posting between classes and after school.

I spent a week working on the yard (I've got enough trees to start a National Forest!) and swimming in the pool. In between I took time to play a few videogames, and go to the latest Star Wars.

How's everyone been? I noticed AK is showing up again. Nice to see you AK! :)

Welcome back Jives, sounds like you had a nice break.

Maybe you could spare one of your trees for Cars. :D

Hi Abbey! Why doesn't poor Cars have any trees for himself? Just go down to the Nursery, or better yet... drive into the mountains and pirate one.

Say Angel...since you're a "Chocobo" have you been posting with that "sephiroth" avatar guy, (Hmmm..what's his name again?) in his Final Fantasy thread?

For those of you who don't know, a "Chocobo" is a wonderful pet/transportation bird from the Final Fantasy PS2 Series, know to be highly intelligent and friendly. ;)

I've really been thinking my next career is going to be substitute teacher. It seems with 2 college degrees I qualify without a license. My question Jives - you being from my state - can I get a license if I don't want to go back to school for another 2 years? If not I will be happy to sub. One of the most enjoyable times I had was going around to HS science classes and teaching some environmental science.

If you've already got two degrees what you want to do is go for "Alternative Licensure". That's how I got in....basically, you get to teach right away, but you have to take three classes a year (night school or Summer, it doesn't matter) to keep teaching, after about two years or so, you get another bachelor's in Education. This is the cool part, the State actually pays for all the classes! All you have to do is show up!

I absolutely LOVE teaching, it's definitely what I was meant to do, I just wish I had found that out about 20 years ago! Anyway, think about it, it's far easier than you might think and New Mexico is absolutely desperate for teachers.

Next year Level II's get an automatic 40 grand a year and Level III's start at 50 grand.
