A day in the life of Colorado

Post by LarsMac »

So I offer for your reading pleasure a couple of stories about life in Colorado.

These kinds of events happen quite regularly around here.

More to come as they occur.

First up, A Canadian Tourist, out for a stroll found himself in a rather precarious situation.

Longs Peak climber, stranded overnight at 13,000 feet, says he felt 'lucky,' 'stupid' - Colorado Daily

We get at least two or three of these every season. And not just tourists. On occasion, even the locals tend to over extend their abilities and judgement.

Next, A common road hazard in these parts:

This one turned out OK. No cars, trucks, Bicyclists or pedestrians were found under the rubble.

There are at lower elevations, but that is way above Timberline. Not many critters hang around up there.

I am sure. Hanging out on a ledge like that all night would be frightening. One wrong move and you are flying. For a little while.

Oh yes, Ride the Rockies has become quite the event. A lot of international Cyclists are beginning to show up.

Ride The Rockies | June 7-13, 2014 • Boulder to Golden • 471 Miles

Some of the passes are even a chore for an automobile. I have hiked a few, but I am NOT a bicycler of that calibre.
