It was a long time ago, but I remember pictures like

this.

Didn't understand what that was, it was just scary.

If there is a Heaven, it was created for men like Jonas Salk
What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

Those things were scarey.

A kid I went to school with in California had an older brother who got Polio and was in one of those things.

Even then, I tried to talk my way out of getting the shots. It didn't work.

We owe a huge debt to Jonas and the men and women like him who get far less recognition than they deserve.

When it came to getting my shot, don't remember the details but it happened so fast I had to told it was done and over with. That was a blessing in that I lost all fear of shots. Really helpful when I went into the Army.

My Brother got his shots while in the Army - and ended up with Gulf War Syndrome as a result (although that can't be the case, as the Government still denies the existence of GWS).

Jonas Salk was considered a hero, not just by me, but society in general. It's wonderful when this happens, when a creative scientist gets such love & recognition for his work as well as the gratitude. I guess Steve Jobs fits in like this with many people. Dr. Salk was a life-saver & Jobs a life-changer.

Better heroes than Kardashians, et. al.

I didn't get over hating shots until I was in the Navy.
