halloween is banned say lower kersal school.. the AA grumpy column
heres a rare treat a grumpy column on a saturday well this was posted on the BNP website today actually a day late but never mind
i actually thought i was going to crash oscars post because osc also put something on about halloween but different to the one in my column so settle back in the chair for a ghoulishly grumpy column.
Halloween has been banned in a school in Salford because it offends immigrants.
Citing the fact that huge numbers of immigrants have flooded our primary schools in recent years, spineless, politically correct teaching authorities have banned the celebration of Halloween in their school because they say British culture offends them.
In previous years, Lower Kersal Community Primary School has allowed children to dress up in ghoulish costumes to celebrate our ancient British festival of Halloween. The school which claims that ‘everyone matters’ has decided that Halloween is too British, and that the culture of British children should be suppressed and denied them in the name multiculturalism.
Halloween is such an old festival that its origins are lost in the mists of time. Many scholars believe the it to have originated from our ancient pagan Celtic tradition of Samhain, which was later adopted into our Christian tradition.
“Banning Halloween for kids is an absolute scandal, exclaimed BNP North West regional organiser Gary Tumulty.
“It’s another blatant attack on our British culture by the politically correct teaching establishment,
“There’s much more at stake here than simply banning kids from dressing up. Not only is the teaching authority shamelessly putting immigrants first, but they're telling our children that they must be ashamed of their British culture and that their British tradition has no place in their own ancestral homeland!
“The BNP is clear – if immigrants come to Britain they MUST respect our British culture and traditions and way of life, or LEAVE! “
Banning our British culture is an attack on all British people. The BNP is fighting back!
The BNP exists to protect your identity, your right to your ancestral British homeland, and make sure that British children have a country that they can proudly call their own.

was the migrants who kicked up a stink or was it the politically correct teachers at school .
i took my daughter trick or treating last night and i actually got dressed up for the first time as a zombie and thoughly enjoyed myself.
but there is a limit is we have to accept dwhali and ramadan and all the other multi culti politically correct rubbish they drill in to kids these days then they should accept our traditions after all its our country
so will bonfire night, christmas , boxing day , and the new year followed by easter be the next to be banned because its not politically correct.
or on the other side of the coin possibly most immigrants do accept the british traditions although they dont celebrate them its political stiring by the loony left political correctness brigade who spout this tripe to gee up the far right who retaliate with posts like the one above and hangwring to appease those few who wont accept our way of life.

Personally I have my doubts if the story is true at all, as it's nowhere to be found anywhere else apart from on BNP sources.
As usual it's a story only to be found on BNP websites, which is a biased spin on a single memo / letter about a primary school deciding not to hold a Halloween dressing up day, highlighting the one line of text that bears any relelvance to multi-culturalism & disregarding the rest.

As I said, there is a single line that is highlighted - co-incidentally the only line that mentions multi-culturalism. If you read the rest of the letter it merely refers to the school breaking up early.
Also, if you look to the banning of Halloween, you'll find that it's not uncommon for such campaigns worldwide, because it is offensive to CHRISTIANS, because of it Satanic connotations. It is for this reason that there are a lot of Religious people (non-Islamic) want to see Halloween abolished. There are also those who object to seeing the "Organised Begging" (as you put it) being encouraged (especially in schools), as this is known to intimidate many vulnerable pensioners etc.
Just because the letter mantions that there have been complaints from parents you automatically assume that the parents are Islamic. There is no mention of that anywhere. It doesn't even mention which cultures they are referring to in the single incidence where it is mentioned.
As usual, the Facists are reading their own 'facts' into something where there is nothing to support their interpretation merely because it's something they want to see.
I could just as easily say that I am of a cultural heritage whose forebears immigrated to this country & enforced our Religious ideals on the native culture, where we raised some terrorist Jew to the status of a Martyr, and I object to anyone having any fun which contradicts my ethical beliefs.

The school has not banned Halloween, they chose not to celebrate it in the school.
And Grumpmiester..................you took your daughter out and dressed up for the FIRST time ?
So why have you after ALL these years just started celebrating Halloween ?
Because......be honest.......it is relatively recently that it has been commercialised and pushed by big business, because it was never high on the calender of Brit celebrations anyway.

That's because it's an Immigrant Culture.

It may be one line but It clearly states the reason ' the school has become more culturally diverse and not everyone celebrates Halloween '. It couldn't be clearer.
What they are saying In their politically correct state Induced phrasing Is that because some do not celebrate Halloween, they are Instead, having a ' special dressing up day'.
I can see the logic behind It... combine all ethnic cultures Into one day but what exactly Is a ' special dressing up day'. Does that mean the children can still come dressed In Halloween outfits or not? They are not clear on that.
The letter goes on to say that some parents kept their children off school because they didn't want them joining In this celebration. So who were these parents? English Parents ? Muslim parents ? Sikh Parents.? Japanese Parents ?
Do English parents keep their children off school during Ramadan and Eid because they dont want their children joining In the celebration ? After all, If they did that, they'd be racist. right ?
Frankly, If the school doesn't want the Far Right jumping all over them, then they should word their letters a little more carefully. Writing ' some parents kept their children off school because they didn't want them joining In this celebration' Is asking for trouble. I note further down the letter they talk of Harvest Festival so the school Is not excluding all Christian festivals. That's a sign that there Is a balance there but words can be misinterpreted and what they wrote has clearly caused some parents to object to the BNP.
Must do better next time teacher.

Two different statements.
You interpret the sentence one way. I interpret it another way. This, in itself proves that it CAN be clearer.
My point, though, is that you automatically focus on the single phrase "culurally diverse" in the entire letter & automatically assume it to mean that it's because of Islamics. This, in itself is typical of Racist Bigotry. The letter refers to letters from parents, but no mention of culture. Why not? Because it doesn't make any difference. Parents are parents. It also refers to smaller children being scared of the costumes. Once again, this has no relevence to culture whatsoever.
As I said, Google the calls to ban Halloween worldwide & you will find that the calls are in the vast majority by Christian extremists - and remember, Christianity can also be seen as being Cultural.

What part of that sentence do you equate with my Interpretation being with ' Islamics' ? How do you possibly arrive at that ?

How's about addressing the point that the majority of calls to ban Halloween celebrations come from Christians due to it being a pagan ritual?

The fact that the sentence saying smaller children found the costumes frightening is an entirely different sentence to the one explaining that some children do not celebrate this festival. If it was not about culture as you claim, why did the school feel the need to give two reasons in separate sentences? Just the sentence stating some children found the costumes frightening would have been suffice. She's right, it's the badly worded letter that has led to it being seen as cultural differences and not anyone's interpretation.
On one hand you make criticism of her objective opinion because it all has to be about islam right? Then you make a statement about her assumption that you can not possibly know. I really don't think you know what you're talking about half the time. Any thread like this is just another excuse to spout leftist propaganda because you assume that anyone remotely connected to the far right has to spend their entire day hating islam and thinking about immigrants. Your bait racism is just as offensive as factual racism. What you do here, is typically stereotype without reason because you believe that makes you look more informed than others and it's an attempt to sway opinion based solely on assumption.

When I google for banning Halloween, I find very little from fundie Christians on the subject. And in fact, have found that places with more Christian fundamentalist inhabitants, I see a lot more Halloween decorations and kids in costumes.
Most Christians in the US have embraced Halloween.
Can't exactly fathom why that is, but it seems to be.
China has banned it. They are hardly what you might call fundamental Christians.
