"The North wind doth blow & we shall have... A very cold botty"
So far this year we've had it uncommonly mild, but yesterday morning I had to scrape load of ice off Da Beasty before venturing to get on it - Dashboard & Saddle, and even with the added insulation of the moonsuit (albeit minimal), that was a bit of a shock to the system that time in the morning. When I got to work & checked on it out of the window about an hour later it was as if it had been there all night - totally white again all over. Mind you, the scenery was like a postcard with the frost glistening on the bare branches of all the trees, and giving a light overlay to the deep green of the firs.
I also stopped by at Ebe's on the way home as I had promised to take some leaflets in for his weekend lodger - a locum G.P. who had asked me to supply him with some, having seen a noticeable improvement in my physical & mental health since having been in this job, and he feels that our services could be of benefit to many of his patients. Anyway, by the time I left there, about a couple of hours later, it was just the same, if not worse, with the roads like wet ice. A very careful ride home for me & Da Beasty.
I've not checked out of the window yet, but by the sound of all the horns going off from the docks it sounds as if it's foggy out there, and if the temperature's the same as yesterday, it's going to be Freezing Fog. I hate the fog at best of times - but Freezing Fog!! Yeuch!!

I don't envy you your rides to work in this weather. My days of having the bike as my only transport are long gone and I can now pick and choose my days for a ride out to the extent that I don't think I could ride on the ice and snow any more. As for the freezing fog, as you say it's the very worst conditions to be on a bike - the only way to ride is with your visor open and that *hurts*
Glad to hear that you health is improving - long may it continue :-6

We've been lucky in that we've had iced up cars and that's about it! Glorious sunshine for the last two days, bit chilly but in the sunshine it feels like spring :-6

We are on the road, from Florida, where it was wonderfully balmy, back to Colorado.
I was looking at local weather back home. Today the high is expected to be 1° f (about -18° C) and tonight's low about -15° f (not even going to tell you the C)
In Mississippi, it is a nice 46° f and the locals are bundled up. I got more than a few stares as I wandered about outside in a T-Shirt.
In the two days we will take to make the drive, we hope to see the temps at home warm up to freezing.

I'm not usually bothered by cold, as it's heat my body has a low tolerance to, but it's the wind chill factor. Even with the full face lid I have to have the visor up a bit in order to allow air flow to keep it cold both sides, so as to avoid it fogging up, and even that small gap blasts the freezing air into your face. On top of that, my chin is exposed, and even with the beard, as Bryn said, it HURTS!! What's more, far from hammering it to get to the nice warm office as soon as possible, this is the weather when you need to take it especially slow, knowing that the road could become an ice rink at any moment, while looking perfectly all right, thus making the journey & consequently the exposure time at least about half as long again. Normally leaving at 07:00 gets me into the office by 07:30. This morning I left at 06:50, to allow for the weather, and arrived at 07:50.
