A Cashless society moves closer ?

Post by Bruv »

The Danish government on Wednesday proposed getting rid of the obligation for selected retailers to accept payment in cash, moving the country closer to a "cashless" economy.

I thought I knew more than this until I opened my mouth

A Cashless society moves closer ?

To say nothing of the fees incurred by some banks for card transactions.

If you think about it, though, the only real form of cash is Gold. Everything else is just an IOU for that amount of Gold. If you look at a banknote (U.K. one, anyway) it has the words "I promise to pay the bearer, on demand, the sum of...". It's a cheque from the Government, and as a such, I suppose you have the right to refuse a cheque without a Bank Card - so why bother with the middle man?
