I talk to the trees...........

Post by Bruv »

I talk to the trees and they DO listen to me.

The notion that plants can "talk" to one another was, until relatively recently, dismissed as fantasy, but the reality of inter-plant communication is now becoming an accepted part of mainstream science.

I suppose we will have to be nice around flowers now, including weeds ?

When I was a kid, my great aunt had a neighbor, named Mrs Lewis. She was a delightful little lady who claimed to be from Westminster, originally, who came to the US with the American soldier she met during the First World War.

She had been a teacher as well, but by then retired. She talked to her plants all the time. And she would speak very sternly to weeds that dared invade her garden, and they would soon be on their way, so to speak.

@the grumps.......... Don't mock Grumpy bum, just because you don't understand doesn't make it wrong.

@LarsMac.............Lots of people have spoken to their plants for years, the experts have tried to explain why the plants flourish, last I heard it was the carbon dioxide we exhale, now we discover plants have feelings too.I await the rise of a movement to get rights for plants.

I remember reading an article in New Scientist, back in about '75 - '76 regarding telepathy in plants. It seems some University ran an experiment by fitting up some tomato plants with an EEG & have someone think a number of different images of things like setting a flame to the plant, or a rainy day, and the EEG readings not only showed a reaction, but different readings depending on the circumstances of the transmitted image.

I also remember an episode of QI, as well as one of the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures which included information on how plants communicate with each other about the presence of an impending threat, such as an animal eating the foliage.

I don't believe there is any doubt about the ability of plants to communicate.

I will have to fall back on it being too wet, and in the UK that's most of the time.
