Taiwan phones Trump to congratulate him on his win.

China complains about him picking up the phone.

Trump then tweets his thoughts about China.

Has the world gone mad ???

Taiwan's call..........how would any one know if it wasn't made public.......by who and for who's benefit I wonder ?

Shouldn't somebody (I suggest his son Baron) censor Trump's tweets ?

Depends what you think is interesting. Horrifying is interesting too. The Vietnam War, those were the days of interesting---sex, drugs, rock 'n roll & let's not forget all the deaths. It's disturbing to realize that all that hatred was so prevalent and that suddenly a segment of the population thinks that it is now acceptable. It is also disturbing to think of what comes next.

Egad! Went to a potluck dinner at Jekyll island campground last night. Fifty couples there. Mostly northerners( snowbirds) . In talking to the lady sitting by me I mentioned something about Trump....yikes! You would have thought I said e f Hutton. The whole room went silent....then I really messed up.. I said I voted for trump...in unison as a whole the room asked...why? Lol! Don't know if I will get invited back to potluck.....

What's horrifying to me is the shoddy healthcare treatment our vets receive. The paltry amount my parents live on social security. the fact that religion has been taken out of school, yet Muslim is being taught. That's wrong! The crime and drug trafficking coming in our open borders.

Ann- does it bother you that there are 23-27 documented honor killings in the United States each year. There victims are almost always young women. Most killed by their father. And the excuse for most is they became too westernized. I think it's brutal, gut wrenching, and depraved. Five thousand women are killed in honor killings yearly in other countries. The brutality, abuse, of women in Hindu and Muslim culture is horrifying to me. I think this perpetuates the unease of some Americans to Muslims . If some, even one, is willing to murder their own children for embracing American ways....omg! That's hate.

One wonders why no American president has seen fit to talk to the Taiwanese, or even to recognise their existence, in the past fifty years?

I've not heard anyone saying that taking the 'phonecall was wrong - just "Oh, oh, there's going to be ructions over this from the Chinese". If the intention was to cause ructions then so be it, as conscious choice has been made but I think the worry is that it was done without thinking.

As for Cuba, don't go there - the US persecution of an entire nation for over fifty years from the crime of rejecting a US backed murderous dictator has been a stain on your reputation for decades.

That's what I told my wife. She was having panic attacks after the election. I told her, "At least the news will be interesting for the next three years! (That's how long I expect it to be before he screws up royally and gets impeached or destroys the world...)

Guppers, first of all, glad to see you are back & your job is not done. As to what you say above, Well, OF COURSE murders bother me and I am especially sensitive to crimes against women, including what gmc says. I am sensitive to a woman's right to choose what is right for herself, including abortion if that is her choice. It is ultra-religionists and male superiority at any price that causes what you mentioned. What is your solution? Banning all muslims, which, btw is unconstitutional (see the First Amendment) or prosecuting crimes when they occur? Murder is murder and the answer is trial and punishment if found guilty. Murder occurs for all kinds of insane reasons, none of them comprehensible; none of them to be sanctioned.

No. I don't want them banned. I do believe the burkha and other forms of dress that hide the face should be banned in the unities states. It makes it far to easy to hide physical abuse, and is a step in the direction of freedom and liberty for all. I too am for women's right to choose till the 12th week of pregnancy. I don't worry about Muslims being dangerous to me or the public. I cannot speak for how others feel. The only thing I feel when I see the burkha is ...my god! , I feel so sorry for these women...

It bothers me that any religion is used to repress anybody. I am for same sex marriage. I am not for men in women's bathrooms. I really don't care how people want to dress . As long as it's an expression of freedom, NOT domination, repression....I don't care how many tattoos someone has... I am totally against adult child sex. It sickens me when police officers are murdered. It sickens me when vets don't get the healthcare they need. It sickens me that the elderly often have to choose between eating and their medicine! My faith, is mine. And private. I do not agree with pushing any faith or religion on anybody. I agree in the separation of religion and state. But do it evenly. If religion is taken out of school, then do not teach any religion in school. Take it out of the workplace. Make no allowances in the workplace or during school hours for private religious practices. That irks the crap out of me.

That is unfair. Crime is not spread evenly across America, and I know that is the same for the UK.

Where I lived in California it was considered very safe. Go five miles away, things change. Somehow I never really felt safe.

Nationally I could point out extremes from the rural midwest to Chicago

You said you started carrying because a local man was killed by strangers. Crime may be more rampant in places, but it is also random. There are people in inner cities who were never crime victims. There are rural people who were viciously killed. Don't deny we have the largest crime problems of any nation on earth, because it's true. That's always the call, & things don't change & won't change now. The last decade(s) have seen less actual crimes than decades before. Don't believe that, do you? Check, it's true, overall, less violent crimes. Why? I think one reason is abortion, less kids born to those who don't want them & won't abandon them to others who don't want them either.

Law Enforcement Officers (LEO's) in the USA have a thankless "dangerous" job!

And they really don't get paid enough risking getting killed every day that they go to work!

20 USA LEO's were murdered in ambush style attacks this year alone. 20!

They were killed just because they were cops.

So far this year, 137 USA LEO's have been killed in the line of duty! 137!

When I was very young my mom worked nights. One night leaving work was beaten. Dad bought her a gun to carry.

When I met my wife she had a demonized Saturday night special.

She bought it because that was all she could afford, sitting at bus stops to get to work.

First time I carried a concealed gun was to visit my brother who lived in a very dangerous neighborhood. It always amazed me that I had to run the risk of getting killed or arrested.

Open carry of an unloaded gun in CA used to be legal. I didn't make it a habit, but on occasion when traveling long distance would throw one on the dashboard.

Moving to Kansas we brought guns for the home. I very rarely openly carried a gun, but as soon as I could when it became legal I got me a conceal carry license. The wife soon afterward got one. Her delay was she wanted to practice some shooing skill just to show off.

Kansas now like one of 12 states which are considered Constitutional Carry

First time I carried a concealed gun was to visit my brother who lived in a very dangerous neighborhood. It always amazed me that I had to run the risk of getting killed or arrested.

Open carry of an unloaded gun in CA used to be legal. I didn't make it a habit, but on occasion when traveling long distance would throw one on the dashboard.

Moving to Kansas we brought guns for the home. I very rarely openly carried a gun, but as soon as I could when it became legal I got me a conceal carry license. The wife soon afterward got one. Her delay was she wanted to practice some shooing skill just to show off.

Kansas now like one of 12 states which are considered Constitutional Carry

It is a civil right just like speech, press, , , ,

I carry with me. Especially when I was working nights. Always had my gun in my jeep. Better safe than sorry.

Actually, percentage not relevant, even one LEO killed just because they are a LEO, is one too many!

LEO's have to go to work every day knowing they are at risk of being ambushed, and or shot in the line of duty, just like the military in war zones.

I would not be a happy camper (would you?) having to go to work every day thinking I may be a target! Has to be nerve racking, and make them somewhat jittery!

Just not true!

If, in order to prevent that LEO being killed the police shoot a hundred innocent people because "they're afraid that they were about to be shot at" which appears to be the usual explanation then it is not acceptable.

IMHO, even one death of an innocent citizen is one too many - the police at paid to be at risk and they are paid to protect citizens, not shoot them.
