Guests to our fair city this weekend

first and foremost THANK YOU AUSTRALIA

We are expecting 50 firefighters from Australia, to help with our out of control forest fires to the immediate west of us in British Columbia.

And not so welcome but will steer clear 500 or so bike gang members arrive this weekend for their 20th anniversary of the Calgary Chapter of Hells Angels.

How the Fires going Minks?

most are contained, many are still burning but are under control.

We have one close by, that keeps flaring up, the other day it puked out a giant smoke cloud that floated out over our city and made everything a mucky orange color as it blocked out the sun.

We are safe for now. Air quality is poor in patches between here and the west coast.

Temperatures in the fire areas unfortunately are supposed to spike next week to almost 40C so who knows what is ahead (right when we are off to holiday that way), as well the winds are to pick up again.

All of southern BC and Southern Alberta are under fire bans. NO CAMPFIRES, but often these fires are started by either lightening strikes, or cigarettes.

40? Bugger thats not good.

Youre going to think im quite strange but i find that tell tale orange colour rather beautiful despite knowing what it means. For me that orange smokey eery sight goes hand in hand with summer just as much as deep blue skies.

Are you holidaying by car?
