And your point is..........
Did he make that money legally? Did he hold a gun to our heads?
Or is your point that he should live in a 2 bedroom flat and walk to work like you?
Please explain why this pisses you off when insinuating you don't even buy gas?
(You may think you don't but in a round about way you really do)
I for one am glad to see he re invested in the community and created all the jobs to build and maintain his fortune. (although overkill, yes)
I know a communist or whatever you are hates to see wealthy people of anykind or anywhere.

I’ll tell you what I don’t like about it. Those should be American made cars and there aren’t near enough house plants and earth tones. It just doesn’t look like a comfortable place to live. It’s all show for somebody who has an ego problem.
The poor will always be with us. Conversely, so will the rich always be with us. They will either get rich in a capitalistic system or they will get rich as government officials. That is why Socialism and Communism have never succeeded. People resent government officials who get rich off a system that is supposed to evenly distribute wealth.

you know what bugs me? scrat has no idea whether or not this guy gives back to the community. yeah, he built a freaking mansion. so what? how do you know he didn't give ten times as much back to the community? lots of people, while being personally ostentatious, believe that when they do charity work, it is between them and their god, not those with prying, gossipy intentions. he may very well give huge amounts to the community, to the poor, to whatever cause there may be. *you don't know, do you*. what bugs me is people who **** and moan about other people's wealth, or way of living.
attend to your own existence. say scrat, how much do *you* give back to your community? what charities do you give to? how much do you give to them? could you give more than you're currently giving - if anything at all?
it's none of my business. well, likewise. and same for the owner of that home.
the funny thing is that this is NOT news. it hasn't got a damn thing to do with $3.00 a gallon gasoline. unless you believe that he only became wealthy in the last year or so. ha ha ha ha. these guys have been superwealthy since the 1950's when ghawar was discovered.
this is NOT news. it's just weenies who are bitter that the oil wasn't found in their backyard. boo hoo. luck doesn't pay favorites.

The arab emirates just like saudi arabia are not nice friendly democracies where`a local guy has done good. They are herditary monarchies that hang on to power by any means they can. You didn't really think this guy got voted his to his position did you? Giving back to the community-come off it. You once had a revolution to get rid of a king and rule without representation how do you think the ordinary people of UAE And Saudi feel when they see conspicuous consumption like this? At least I suppose it has the virtue of not pretending to share wealth in the first place but rather taking it by birthright as hereditary rulers.
As to the cars, well you can hardly blame him why but american when god quality europeancars can be had instead. The only thing wrong with it is that Rolls Royce are no longer British. But then we can laugh at the irony of it all.
Why attack the UAE instead of the oil companies? They could always refuse to pay the high prices thus forcing them down. Don't buy oil for a couple of weeks and see how the producers panic as thye money dries up.:sneaky:
Can't work out what the guy is trying to do with this website or what it says about scrat that he found it. Personally I only trawl amongst uplifting intellectually challenging sites like forum garden.

What?!?!?!?!? What!!!!! Are you going crazy up there in the highlands?
Americans are spending their childrens college money at the gas pump!!! They're using plastic to buy it now.
America was built on cheap oil and cheap energy. Times are changing and they are not changing for the good.
Petrol here is now 93p per litre, I would give the price in gallons but we still use imperial gallons as opposed to the wimpy american one (talk about being conned-your cars`may be bigger but your gallons are`smaller) as it would be confusing. It coste £53 to fill a tank andd I get about 400 miles to the tank.
Think of the benefits if you all stopped driving so much, the money you save on petrol and on medical bills for being obese could pay for the children's educaton so they might be educated enough to think up an alternative fuel source before the oil runs out.

GMC. Americans are crack addicts when it comes to our cars. Gas guzzling SAV's (suburban assault vehicles) and hot high powered luxury cars are what we crave. Even my better half has a gas guzzling 8 cylindar Pontiac that gets about 19 mpg. It costs her about $5 a day to get to work and back. With her it is about status and fitting in with her crowd. She is wishing she didn't have it now.
Actually so are we, the public transport in scotland is pretty crap, it's ok in the cities but if you work outside and need to travel in it's a major problem. My own mileage is 35,000 to 40,000 pa between work and leisure

Why in the hell don't you think any further than the shallow rhetoric that you spew? Your going to tell me how I think? Where my bitterness lies? My resentment?
you know what's funny? you post all these one-way posts - your rhetoric, that you spew - but then you claim i'm the one with the shallow rhetoric. well, if you're going to lay down a gauntlet like that, then follow along: hit the "reply" key, and quote what you're pissing on about. do something concrete for once. you've spewed your drivel, implying what you want to imply, well - true story - i can do the same.
I'm going to tell you that you are shallow. You are very good with words but you repeat them by rote. Have you ever thought to any length about anything? To any depth?
1. learn what "rote" means, you undereducated troglodyte. then learn what "redundant" means.
2. if you're going to dip your toe into the delightful world of ad hominem, then don't *****-foot around like this. i mean come on - the answers are easy: yes, i do think at length about many things, and i do think about them in depth. which is why i'm able to dismiss your pissing and moaning so easily, because i'm arguing with someone who actually thinks stalin was "misunderstood".
You really should read this. Then you prove me wrong when I say that people like these are a large part of our problem, a large part of this WORLDS problem.
sorry binky, but *i* challenged you on your stupid, moronic assumptions about the owner of that home, and you've provided nothing to counter it, besides more moronic drivel and 'guilt by association'.

now you're telling us that *you* know what goes on inside a madman's mind. well, if the shoe fits....

so freaking what? so what if they do? they'll get theirs when the oil runs out and they ask us to ship C.A.R.E packages to them. it'll happen. i don't think they're investing much in researching alternative energy production. we'll have it all sewn up long before they do. hell - i'd bet folding money we *stop even needing to buy their oil* long before it runs out. then they'll be stuck with all this black goo that nobody wants to buy.
The United Nations accused a host of Arab nations on Tuesday of squandering the wealth generated by oil and depriving most of their people of basic political freedoms.
mmm. the same united nations that castigated the US for being too penny-pinching when it came to charity to other nations. ignoring that we are the most charitable nation on the planet.
nice sources you have scrat! i've no argument that the arab nations are behind the times on human rights. what they do with their money is their business however - unless you're a dyed-in-the-wool socialist who believes that stealing other people's money is simply 'redistribution of wealth'.
(ahem PAY CLOSE ATTENTION)
****"Given the political commitment, Arab countries have the resources to eradicate absolute poverty in less than a generation," the report said. "Commitment, not resources, is the binding constraint." ******
um, bfd. this isn't news. if the US gave away it's entire gross domestic product for one year, we could eliminate all poverty around the globe. of course, we'd then be the ones needing C.A.R.E. packages.
those who believe in redistribution of wealth are criminals in my opinion. the only difference is that, instead of a gun, they try to use policy. rob peter to pay paul. it's still robbery.
if you haven't guessed by now, i DESPISE socialists.
but back to topic. this guy built a big house. it was probably paid for with oil profits. we buy oil. we use oil. they have the oil. unless you get your freaking girlfriend to sell her stupid SUV, and stop using ALL plastics, and turn off your computer, and stop buying food that was shipped thanks to oil-derived fuels, and move to the mountains and start trapping all your food while wearing buckskins - you can **** off with your rhetoric.
whee!

yes. now that you know the definition, maybe next time you won't use the term redundantly.
I think it fits your mentality and your rhetorical style to a "T". You bring to light the true meaning of the saying "Just because you have a college degree doesn't mean you have commonsense" just as clearly as Paris Hilton is the best justification for communism as you will ever find.
too bad i don't have a college degree, you twit.
Exactly, and you still don't know why.
oh, i've read your poppycock about stalin. you conveniently ignore the horrors he afflicted his own people with through his brutality. i don't care if he *did* do a few good things - every monster was at some time their mother's son, and probably did take the garbage out once or twice. that doesn't excuse that stalin is one of the worst monsters in history.
but i digress.
Now, time for some education.
and with that, i bid you adieu. clearly, you aren't over yourself, and won't be soon. i don't get my education from warped misanthropes who worship stalin. you may think you're a lot of things - clearly you think a lot of things about what i may be - whatever. have a nice life.

Claim: Photographs show palatial home of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Status: Real photos; inaccurate description.
Origins: These pictures are indeed real photographs of an impressive palatial structure, but †contrary to the claims made in the accompanying text †they evidently do indeed depict a hotel, not a private home. These are images of the Emirates Palace Hotel in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), a facility that "boasts 302 superior rooms and 92 magnificent suites each combining the ultimate in luxury with 22nd century technology." (How they managed to obtain technology a hundred years in advance of the stuff available to the rest of us is something we haven't yet figured out.)
As the Emirates Palace Hotel's web site describes the accommodations offered (or soon to be offered) there:
All Palace rooms offers plasma screens, interactive TV's and high speed Internet access.
8 restaurants representing cuisine from across the globe will be opening in December 2004 with 10 additional outlets scheduled to open in 2005. Internationally branded specialty restaurants will include Iranian, seafood, Mediterranean, Arabic, and Asian cusine complemented by a number of relaxing lounges and cafes.
A selection of the worlds most exclusive brands in luxury jewellery and fashion for the discerning shopper.
The longest private beach in Abu Dhabi, 1.3 km of golden sands and two stunning pools artistically landscaped on the east and west wings of the Palace.
Two Spa fit for kings and queens will be located in the east and west wings, featuring a luxury line of beauty products along
Emirates Palace will be home to the best Marina UAE with private berths for yachts. Full Service facilities will be available as well as leisure facilities.
Many of the pictures shown above are also offered in the photo gallery on the hotel's web site, including views of the many hotel restaurants, luxury suite bedrooms and bathrooms, swimming pools, and atria, as well as the cars available through their limousine service.
