Although scientifically it's supposed to be counter-productive, I eat large quantities of chocolate. Just an excuse? Probably, but it works like a charm. As soon as Bullet knows Aunt Flo is visiting, he stocks up on Dove dark chocolate for a week.

Movement. A brisk walk helps with crampyness, and tends to help my moodiness.

Avoidance. I know what sorts of things set me off during that time, and I stay away from them.

A neutral bath. It's when you soak in a tub of hot water, just lounging till the water feels neither hot or cold. Why does it work? I have absolutely no idea. It's just relaxing, I suppose.

Eat light. I know this is in complete opposition to the chocolate tip, but chocolate is a neccessity, like shelter or air.

If it gets so bad that none of these things help, I retire to my hermit's cave and snarl warnings at anyone who dares disturb me.

Well personally I (and don't smack me!) have never really had "PMS"......at least not in the way I hear described....but about a week before i just get hungry ALL the time and for dreadful things like chocolate....and lasagna!!!!! LOL....But my neighbor was having really bad PMS to the point where one morning she completely flew off the handle and attacked me for something very trivial. She was so out of line that I later called her that day and told her how horrible it was to talk to me like that and that I didn't deserve that. Anyhow, she was balling and begging for forgivness and confessed to a whole lot of stress/depression/pms and i advised that she see her doctor. Now 2 months later and on an antidepressant she says she has never felt better and that PMS is no longer controlling her life! All along, I had no idea she had PMS!

Robin, as long as you don't crave chocolate lasagna!! Then I'd have to guess that your period wouldn't be a problem for quite a few months!! :yh_rotfl

I guess PMS can be super serious for some women. I am so glad I just get the normal, garden-variety pit-viper PMS.

Don't smack me, either... but I've never had any!! Don't know why since

even as young women both my sisters had to stay home from school in

bed. Dad would usually give them blackberry brandy! (Aw, what a sweet

Daddy!!)

Some gals just have all the luck, eh?!?!?

People, people, people! I am not a doctor, just like to spout off about my personal experience, and take heed, this is what did it for me....PMS for me ten years ago? Horrid moods, cranky to the max, weepy also, bad combination...terrible craving for sugar (i.e. chocolate in massive quantities), very tired, short tempered; you guys know! You absolutely must get yourself on a good mineral supplement and stay there forever! I got so bad that I just stopped short, told myself to fix it because I could feel it starting to rule my life and I refused to go there! I take a calcium, potassium, manesium supplement every day without fail and can't get to sleep well without it anyway...Within a few months I was absolutely zen in comparison, sleeping through the night, and realized that my chocolate cravings were almost non existent. To this day, as much as I love chocolate, I can always pass it up if I need something sweet and have anything simple around like some fruit snacks or something. (It's the magnesium I think.) This is totally amazing to me even after this many years. I always feel so bad for women who are going through this because it takes so much out of us for so many years, and God knows the people around us suffer! I'm talking about a good chelated supplement, not some cheapo grocery store thing...I truly hope this helps...

I used to be a real grumpy git.

I dont have the problem anymore, i had a hysterhectomy,

but when i did i'd eat chocolate and masses of it.

It was the only time of the month that i felt i needed it.

I am kind of similar to Abbey, didn't have a hysterectamy but something else, never had PMS-but give me those sweets! I am not crankier any specific day, just all the time!:wah:
