It's been three days, I think, since Ladycop las posted the Jimmy Buffett song Key Largo, and It has been running around in my head ever since. :guitarist

A lot of songs have that effect on me: American Pie, Piano Man, This is the Song that Never Ends, and more.

all part of my evil plan to take over your brain ACC :D ...(key largo is typical of jimmy, but is a bertie higgins song). i haven't had my cup of tea yet, when i do i will try to remember some songs that do that to me. ..WARNING--NEVER GO TO DISNEY AND RIDE THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN OR THAT SONG 'IT'S A SMALL WORLD' WILL TORMENT YOU FOR DAYS!!!! WEEKS! MONTHS!!!!!

You mean the "Small World" ride, with all the dolls. I went on that years ago. I love Jimmy Buffet! And I like the song American Pie! It always seems the songs that get stuck in my head are the ones I DON'T like!!

that song about oh heck here are some lyrics

put on my blue suede shoes and l baorded the plane

went down to the land of memphis blues in the middle of the pouring rain.

I believe Elvis is mentioned in it and Cher did a cover..

whenever l hear that song l hum it for days, and Tom Pettys Wont back down or ELO wild west hero..

Actually the list could go on, but .....you'd get bored if not already :D

Can't remeber the title, but it's a song by Billy Joel about the Vietnam war...there are helicopters....words something like " we held the day in the palm of our hand...they held the night and the night seemed to last forever etc etc" ......I need to find it and play it...the whole album is just fantastic.

That's "Goodnight Saigon", Bez, and you're right, it's fantastic!!

We met as soul mates

On parris island

We left as inmates

From an asylum

And we were sharp

As sharp as knives

And we were so gung ho

To lay down our lives

We came in spastic

Like tameless horses

We left in plastic

As numbered corpses

And we learned fast

To travel light

Our arms were heavy

But our bellies were tight

We had no home front

We had no soft soap

They sent us playboy

They gave us bob hope

We dug in deep

And shot on sight

And prayed to jesus christ

With all our might

We had no cameras

To shoot the landscape

We passed the hash pipe

And played our doors tapes

And it was dark

So dark at night

And we held on to each other

Like brother to brother

We promised our mothers we’d write

And we would all go down together

We said we’d all go down together

Yes we would all go down together

Remember charlie

Remember baker

They left their childhood

On every acre

And who was wrong?

And who was right?

It didn’t matter in the thick of the fight

We held the day

In the palm

Of our hand

They ruled the night

And the night

Seemed to last as long as six weeks

On parris island

We held the coastline

They held the highlands

And they were sharp

As sharp as knives

They heard the hum of our motors

They counted the rotors

And waited for us to arrive

And we would all go down together

We said we’d all go down together

Yes we would all go down together

This is the song that never ends.

Yes it goes on and on my friend.

Somebody - started singing it not knowing what it was

And you'll continue singing it forever just because

This is the song that never ends.

There's a thread in one of my biker forums from a guy looking for a place to buy gauntlet gloves. The title is "Looking for gloves..." so whenever I go to that forum and see that thread, of course I get "Lookin' for love in all the wrong places...." running through my head for the next 6 hours.

My apologies in advance if I've told you guys this already...

I used to work in a 7 story building. Lower floors were recording studios,

film sound, etc. but a lot of the other floors were rented out to "regular"

businesses. Upright Scaffolding, now THERE is a name for ya! Anyway, just

for fun a friend and I would get in the elevator in the morning and sing a

song of some sort... "A horse is a horse of course of course" and then later

in the day, take a stroll around the building on our breaks and see just how

many people were singing/humming it!! You'd be amazed. Er, well, maybe

you wouldn't!!

:D ;)

I love all BJs songs...mostly because he wrote them and they tell a story...Piano man is another of my faves.
