Okay..we know it's bad.
What could be the possible consequences? What do you suppose COULD happen to Parliament? Say...if the Queen dissolves it? Or lets go even further and out of the box.
What would happen if Europe takes over at Parliament level? Can the Lords function without the Commons? In other words..what COULD happen? Is Britain ready for a president?:-3

I wouldnt want them Eurocrats in my Parliament. That would just mean swapping one lot of greedy buggers for some others.
I want the Queen to put on her armour and take up her sword. Together we can chase those self serving MPs down Whitehall and choral them into Trafalgar Square. Let Nelson look down on them in disgust

if it ever came to my being asked, I'd vote to dismantle the Westminster level of government entirely and rely on my representation at Brussels. Europe as a whole should be a sovereign entity with one voice, one currency and one foreign policy.

It wouldn't help, our Congressmen and senators are just as corrupt or worse than yours.

I hardly think your going to see the end of Westminster as an institution. It has survived a lot in its history and adapted itself to all manner of social, economic, military, and political changes, it will do so again.
What I think will happen over the longer term (all things being equal and barring disasters) is that the UK will become more properly regionalized and the Westminister Parliament will revert back to what it originally was, which was the Parliament of the lords and commons of England. Scotland will be independent, while Wales and N. Ireland will be more devolved than they are at present, or perhaps in the extreme case even fully detached (though its hard to see that with N. Ireland, which couldn't really exist without the Union).
The EU will gradually become a more fully political confederation of the Nation States of Europe, with the individual countries of the current UK, and Ireland becoming a regional block within that, a bit like the way most of Scandinanvia is. Either that or the UK will completely seceed from the EU and, I dunno, go off on a madcap roller coster ride across the atlantic or something.
I am not sure that at the moment this is really the end of civilization, there is just a very febrile atmosphere in the U.K. I am not sure this is going to mean the end of British democracy, its just a bad scandal, coming at a time when the population are already punch drunk from the credit crunch, a government that's been too long in office, and various follies that have come home to roost. Give it a few months and see where it is then.

What's gone wrong is that being an MP has become a carer with back bencher toeing the party line in order to get up the slippery pole with no one prepared to go against the party whips for that reason. At any point Tony Blair could have been held to account, gordon brown can be chucked out with a vote of no confidence-maybe he will now labour MP's are beginning to realise what a disaster he is being for their futures. It's been suggested that cross party committees be given more say and power in drawing up legislation.
The parties themselves and their funding need sorted out as well. Both have lost their way. Maggie-destroyed the tory party-tony blair destroyed the labour party-all gordon brown has done is bury it deeper. there too much emphasis on the leader and their view and not enough grass roots say. How do labour elect a new leader-anyone know.

It has to be said though Gallders that compared to your bunch of mingers, Westminster is home of the sexy. Ed Balls is quite shaggable for one.
