Went to a family reunion yesterday. . . . .

Post by cars »

and it was fantastic!!! It was held at (of all places) a Rack-track picnic grounds, in NY! First time ever there, it was great! The weather was perfect, the family was perfect, with a little playground for the kidlets, the food was overflowing, and the grounds were spacious! With 45 picnic tables reserved, all in one area, it was almost like a semi private gathering.

And to add to the enjoyment, for the gamblers in the crowd, (and there were many) all they had to do, was walk about 200 feet to the off site race-track betting booths, and bet to their hearts content!!! (one of the family members actually owned a horse that ran in the 6th race! All bet on it, including myself, "IT LOST!:wah:) And then watched the races on the many large outdoor TV screens all over the grounds. And for the real die-hard's, they walked another 200 or so feet to the actual "race-track & watched the races live!!!

A wonderful time was had by all at the reunion!

Now the entire family, can't wait for the next reunion!!! :D

On the occassion of my parents 50th wedding anniversary, my family organised a 'This is your life'. We took over a local hotel and it took months to organise. We flew over my father Irish long distance relatives and tracked down war vets he served with also. His face when they all walked In !!!!:wah:

What a fantastic idea I will have to mention it as an idea for your next reunion as we live right here by the Del Mar Race Tracks. :-6 Glad it was such a great time for all.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

Exactally right Peg, that's what was happening to us. So we decided to start the family reunions, so as to see the family while they're still with us! :)

Cars

The only Reunion we have is at Funerals

and I've been seeing them too much

I don't like what they wear - what they say - I don't like how they smell...!!!!

I don't like them

We won't have a FAMILY REUNION anytime soon unfortunately

and don't do that Fake Hug Crap with Me....!!!

It would be nice to all meet if all could afford to meet..?

it would be nice to meet - if we all genuine want to see eachother..?

Cars - As I stated - I'm glad you can do this & have a nice Family - you are Loved..

The last Family I met the united for good or bad was a great Family in Minnesota.

I admire that Family and they have Yearly reunions between Ohio - MN -Michigan and trade off with location and it's alot alot of joy smiles laugh fun...

That'll never happen within my Family

I'm so so jealous

I don't have any wider family either Patsy, but my youngest daughter and I were honoured to be included in a family reunion in Oklahoma City - it was something I'll always remember. So will she. Americans sure seem to know how to celebrate family.
