Beg all you want to, I believe you forgot what it is to be young & are not thinking of the fury of the parents, community, and people from other locales joining in. During Vietnam, did you support the shooting of the young students in Ohio? Should bullets have been used in 1968 when the Pentagon was stormed? True, those folks were unarmed with no intent to harm, but I am curious about your reaction to those events both when they happened & now years later.
I honestly don't mean to insult you Lon, but perhaps you will enjoy assisted living where you can complain to the other oldsters about the 'good old days' when there was Respect for Obedience. I'm not young myself, btw, but younger than you & I remember what it was like to be young & alive in turbulent situations. I remember the passion, whether for good or ill; I remember the excitement & intense emotion young people feel when caught up in circumstances gone awry.

You are not insulting me at all. You are just way off base thinking you know me. No, the Kent State shootings were dead wrong and no, bullets should not have been used at the Pentagon storming. I support demonstrations and free speech of all kinds and I my self marched and demonstrated in Mississippi pre civil rights and participated against our involvement in Viet Nam. It might surprise you to know that I was in French Indo China (Viet Nam) in 1954 with the U.S. Air Force supposedly there to support the French. Our group never did aid the French and went back to Korea. Shortly there after it was Dien Bien Phu and the French were history.
Protests, marches and demonstrations are one thing, burning buildings down and mass looting is some thing else all together. Youth is no justification for running amok and destroying property and stealing goods. The owners of properties and goods have every right under the law to protect their properties them selves or have the authorities protect them (yes by shooting if necessary).
Sorry Anne that I don't fit the mold of the pre dementia senior citizen that you would like to portray me as.Not too many of my peer group Bungy Jump.

"Arsonists should be warned ahead of time by the media and public authorities and then shot on site as they perform these despicable acts." From your OP---very different from "The owners of properties and goods have every right under the law to protect their properties them selves"....... What I object to is the rest of that sentence "or have the authorities protect them (yes by shooting if necessary)."
I'm not impressed by your military adventures. It was the fifties. In the sixties you would have stayed in Vietnam & the rest is history.
Do you think the parents of the shot looters would do nothing?? Do you think anyone with the slightest sympathy would do nothing?? Your solution is despicable & would result in the worst violence since the Civil War. Tude Dog got me right--arrest & punishment for the crimes of looting & arson, not the political fireball you are invoking. And I can't help but notice that white collar crimes, which have destroyed more lives & picks our pockets everyday is not in your 'line of sight.' Black teenagers are. They don't deserve to be murdered by your 'Authorities'. Imagine the Patriot Acts we'd need to cover this infringement of everyone's rights. When you Bungeed did you land on your head?

For example,
Obama snubbed Ferguson cops, invited Sharpton to White House summit
Al Sharpton

You're just being dumb, TD. The President is president of all the USA & territories & all the people. Looking into everything everywhere is not being a king. Good grief, pull your socks up.
