What an OTT reaction by those gun-happy cops. Where are those kids going to hide guns ? I would think it a little difficult when all a kid is wearing is a bikini or a pair of shorts. I'd like to know why the cops were there in the first place. Did somebody complain about noise ?
I felt disgusted that one of those cops was rather viscious in the way he handled one of those girls, and to draw a gun on those youngsters was ridiculous IMO. It seems to me that America is gradually losing it's law and order, and it is not helped by the roughness of the cops who cannot or will not differentiate between high spirited youth (male or female ) , and genuine threat.
I sincerely hope that the UK refrains from arming our police force as a general practice.

Saw a blurb on this on the news. No idea what it was all about. That one cop needs to be sent on vacation for a while. He was just being crazy.
Guy talk to my kids or grandkids like that, he would need some physical therapy.

whatever else it was about, that one cop seemed just a bit too over the top. I don't know why he was so excited. There was simply no call for his behavior. And pulling a gun on a bunch of kids?
And, yes, the recordings do suggest he was being a little tougher towards the black kids than the others. Could be just the focus on the one guy. We don't see what the other cops were doing.

But if that guy treats everybody like that, he needs to get a job as a bus driver, or TSA agent, or something useful.

Guns do figure quite significantly in U.S. crime, and I would tend to agree that the fear that someone might just "pull a gun" on you and shoot must be a deterrent to anyone thinking of trying to de-fuse a situation. I still say that the cop should not have been so keen to wave his gun around. I was always taught NEVER to draw a gun OR knife unless you intend to USE it for the purpose it was made. By drawing a gun or knife, you are taking an action which could be mistaken for a statement of intent.

If I lived in the U.S. I think it would be a major concern of mine, with the preponderance of guns readily available "over the counter"!! Litigation would also concern me, but not nearly as much as being "popped" by some psycho with a "shooter".

I don't think I am brave or overly bold or very public spirited, but I think if I had come across those events I would have approached closely to the fracas and raised my voice loudly telling the ladies to stop, I hope that would do the trick, but if not I would try to separate them physically, hoping others might help too.
That is a normal human reaction, fearing legal action or firearms or even being hurting oneself would be something that came into mind after the event.

So policemen are human and make mistakes like the rest of us...what a surprise. Apparently, the cop just came off some kind of suicide incident and was distressed. I also think the girl who came back three times after being told to leave had a big mouth and was being a stupid teenager. this kind of thing has gone on since time immemorial. It's just now that we can all see it the next day on video and make a big stinking deal about nothing. The cop is fired, the girl gets her fifteen minutes and I'm disgusted with our entire society.

Actually, the cop resigned. Don't know what led to his acting like that. He was obviously extremely stressed, and not completely in control of himself or the situation. Yes, cops are only human. And yes, they can make mistakes. But when they make mistakes, people often die, or are injured because of those mistakes. They have to meet a higher standard than the average citizen.
Those were teenagers. Teenagers often act stupidly. Shooting them is usually not the solution, as tempting as it may be, sometimes.

Also agreed. I noticed, though, that he never drew his gun until the big male teenager rushed him in a fighting stance from behind and startled him. Did you noticed that the two other officers who arrived right at that point? The officer reholstered his gun and sent them after the big kid. Interesting.

I find it interesting that where I live there is no problem to buying guns. At the same time we have virtually no crime which involves guns. In fact as of July 1 open carry/conceal of firearms will be legal throughout the state.
Somehow I do not expect to see blood flooding the streets.

Hey Jackass
I don't mean to pick on Chicago but it is the most stricking example of gun control laws having no effect.
Problem is gangs and drugs.
With all that said if I had an occasion to visit the Windy City, though wary not being involved in drugs etc. I would not expect any problem at all.

shooting victims
Hey Jackass
I don't mean to pick on Chicago but it is the most stricking example of gun control laws having no effect.
Problem is gangs and drugs.
With all that said if I had an occasion to visit the Windy City, though wary not being involved in drugs etc. I would not expect any problem at all.
What happened to Kamala Harris' campaign?
She had the black vote all locked up.

Somehow I do not expect to see blood flooding the streets.
Chicago has always had the most restrictive gun laws possible and the results Chicago shooting victims

Likewise, I've been to Chicago numerous times, always unarmed, and Always left with my self intact.

If course your were unarmed. That was not your choice, unless you wanted to take the risk of going to jail.
