Not hardly. Post #139 was a newbie's first. And it's happened a couple

other times.

How sad am I that I went back through to find it?

At least I got to hit the funny high points again!

Refigerate. Soften in advance when desired. Homemade right out of the churn on homemade buttermilk biscuits or homemade bread is heaven. Add a ladle of chipped beef and make a meal. ;)

As God is my witness, they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never speak of that thing they call Butter again.

No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never speak of it again.

I always refigerate apple butter before use. It's better on buttermilk biscuits when it's chilled. On the flip side, it's also righteous heated, and spooned over homemade vanilla ice cream. Just my thought. ;)

lady cop wrote: from Land 'o Lakes....(i would never keep a dairy product at room temp. but i know lots of people who do. ) Storage
Always keep butter refrigerated. Store it in its original container in the coldest part of the refrigerator, not the warmer "butter keeper" on the door. Store it away from foods with a distinctive odor like cheese, onions, garlic, etc..

Refrigerate unused portions of opened butter in a covered dish.

LAND O LAKES® Butter has a shelf life of four months. For longer storage, freeze in carton.

When I worked for a railroad we had to make sure butter stayed at -10F if it was destined for government warehouse. they said that while butter will not actually freeze, it will get rancid if kept near the freezing point. Myself, I keep butter in the freezer and only thaw it for cooking. Otherwise I use smart balance margarine.
