I just felt so angry at being finally dumped last week by the elderly man in Omaha, that I took the only thing he ever gave me (a musty, secondhand book) and tore it into shreds. This took a lot of doing (and anger) because I really treasure books. I texted my 17 year old granddaughter to tell her and she texted back, "U legend! i love you loadzxxx" My family is so relieved that he is finally out of my life, and that I can begin to rebuild my battered self esteem and confidence.

But the bits now lie on the lounge floor. What do I do with them? I can't burn them because it's raining outside but I want to dispose of them in such a way that it shows my disdain for someone who, for nearly two years, treated me with utter contempt, callousness and total dishonesty.

I need to make a ritual of it, and vow that I shall never again in my life allow myself to be treated that way again. So, what can I do with the remains of the book?

Something final...like burning it, or burying it...thus signifying the end of it all.

Burn the pieces in your sink or bathtub, but in small bits so you don't catch anything else on fire. Then just wash the ashes down your drain.

I think it really should involve fire, Theia!!! But otherwise, maybe drown the pieces. Toss them slowly into a river or into the ocean. Nar though - fire is always best. And write the name of the misbegotten sorry excuse for a human being on a piece of paper, with his photo if you still have that, and burn them too. As the flames rise, dance and sing, preferably with a glass of wine in your hand. You rock, Girlfriend.

This might be a silly idea but what about a time capsule . Take an old tin . Write down how you are feeling about this time in your life and along with some of the pages bury them both in the garden and forget about them .....kind of like burying all the bad luck with the year.......and looking forward to a new one ..or you could take the book to the recycling bank . Whatever you do good luck and a big :yh_hugs from me .:)

Fire transforms the energy so if you do that then decide what you want it to transform into.

Don't bury it!!!

Mailing it is also a good method. You can address it with a word that represents him :D and no address and it works just as well - ends up in the dead letter office. The idea is to get it away from you and out of your life. For goodness' sake don't put a return address on the envelope if you do this.

glad you're dealing with it positively! :-6

Shred the pages....mail half of it back to him and keep the other half to do with what you want....burn it, chuck it...what ever.

Now I personally wouldn't do either....it makes it (him) too important...I'd just chuck in the trash can like any other rubbish and forget it.

I think you should eat some of the pieces.... llike Hannibal Lector. As a reminder of the incredible amount of suffering this self serving, cruel, parasite put you through. ( Just two or three little pieces) Then give the rest to a neighbor who has a big dog. The neighbor should use the paper to clen up the dogs crap. With Love, Weeder. Thanks everyone...all food for thought

My son in law just suggested sending the bits back to him (after he'd trodden all over them!) but I suppose there's a part of me that doesn't want him to know I'm giving him a second thought (he won't read this because he doesn't "do" forums).

Betty, Cape Cornwall is so, so beautiful that I think I would rather us go down there for a positive, self affirming experience...you know, renewal and all that sort of stuff. Shall we arrange to do that?

I like the idea of just mailing it, Koan. Or, as you say, deciding what I want to transform it into before burning...that feels really positive, because, if I'm honest, he taught me a lot of things about the way I see myself and that's an invaluable, if painful, lesson. (Oh, and thank you for the Tarot reading...it was really helpful, as was Pinky's a few months ago).

Stop making me laugh, Weeder, my cow tissue graft will fall apart (don't ask!). The problem with eating it is that it was a musty, smelly, old book and I might just vomit. But hey, James and his girlfriend have a dog who regularly rolls in fox pooh...maybe they could use some scrap paper...:sneaky:

It was a very thick book, Unc, so the pieces vary in size. But I'm a bit worried about the texture of the paper

Cow tissue graft?!! Theia !!! GIGGLE.. And absolutely no comment.

I still think it has to be fire.

There was a bloke who harrassed me in the work place for over a year. Patronising put downs type stuff, and he knew zilch about my area too.. I used to get really upset, then one day I realised that this is what he was in fact getting off on. Classical bully syndrome.

So I printed out his web photograph, blacked out his eyes so he couldn't ever see me again, blacked out his mouth so he could never speak to me again, wrote his name on a piece of paper, then selected some neat old ways type thingies.. mistletoe for general magic, oak leaves for wisdom, birch for cleansing, pine for purity, rowen for that little bit of extra punch and a bunch of white sulphur crested cockatoo feathers because they were a pretty colour.

Built a little fire the next full moon. Took off all me clothes, put flowers in my hair, burnt all the bits and pieces while dancing.. and at the same time tossed into the flames all my own negative thoughts, bad wishes, regrets that I hadn't handled things differently, everything negative. Laughed a lot. Drank some wine and finally covered the smouldering ashes with earth and poured the last of the wine into the steaming earth. Then I went and showered to wash away even the smell of the smoke (and the stink of burning feathers) and it really worked. I felt differently about that bloke afterwards. Actually gave him a broad grin recently as I walked on and I must say, he looked not just surprised but quite stunned.

Go Theia.. Burn the negative vibes. They're a double whammy that impacts only on you, not on the bastard who deserves them.

Package up the bits and sell them on Ebay! People buy Tesco carrier bags on Ebay, someone's bound to buy that if you explain what it is!

Take the money you win and buy as much wine as you can and get royally drunk! :)

Or you could recycle the book - have it smashed into mush and made into something better! Same as he should be!
