Ok.
It got my attention.
It was an interesting behind the scenes glimpse into an odd and surreal entity that few really know about or get to see.
Nomads Rating ~~

Very nearly perfect ...

The Queen
It's fabulous. Trust me. Helen Mirren is marvelous, as is the cast as a whole.

I think that traditions can become nooses by which ruling classes may hang themselves. I think the Queen may have come to realize this for Herself and so chose to capitulate to her people's wish to observe a demonstration of grief.
Of course, that's read from Mirren's portrayal of Her and the film's portrayal of the events. It would be naive to assume the screenplay is a literal translation.

Sometimes, with these biopics, the real person has a small cameo role in the film.
In The People Vs. Larry Flynt, the real Larry Flynt had a brief role as a judge.
It would have been really cool if ER II was cast as a maid, or something.

Great scene between Liz and a gin soaked rather bleary eyed queen mum in the garden.

Also didn't realize that Tony Blair supported and understood the Queen's emotions at the end.
Diana was loved by a great many people in the uk for the work she done, she done no more or less than say Princess Anne but she was prettier so got more headline's.
Its true there was no love lost in royal circles & perhaps if Diana had been your daughter in law & you knew a bit more about her you would see the queen's point of view better Kathy. Diana & Sarah (fergie) brought a lot of problems for the monarchy. Its a shame she's dead but i had little time for her dramatics.
No need for flames Diana fans, its just my point of view.

Have a look at this link, i think you may find this book facinating

For the first time, a thorough analysis of Diana's character and temperament, leading to the conclusion that she may have suffered from one of the most elusive mental illnesses--the borderline personality disorder, which is characterized by a confused identity; sharp mood swings; extreme fear of rejection and abandonment; an inability to sustain relationships; persistent feelings of loneliness, boredom and emptiness; depression; and impulsive behavior such as binge eating and self-mutilation--all of which Diana experienced in her adult life severely and chronically, as indicated by her behavior, her own revelations, and insights offered by friends and family.

The Scottish National Party (SNP) says that the queen should continue to be head of state in an independent Scotland. Not that we are independant yet, as part of the UK yes she's my queen at this present time & looks like she will be for the forseeable future whatever happens with independance.

You're phrasing that as though the film was true life rather than a fictionalised account showing the Director's predudice
