We walk into the saloon on our own and shoot the bad guy, at which point all the other sheriffs come out of the rooms round the balcony and prime their shotguns with a menacing click. If they all disagree with the shooting then the offender gets on the stage out of town that evening I expect. Nobody's had that happen to them. And being a moderator isn't like that at all, either, I just made it up because it sounded good.

How familiar are you with kayfabe? ForumGarden is a small-scale World Wrestling Entertainment Inc where you get to be a face or a heel by choice, the entire audience are also players and you get clapped or booed, popular or unpopular, in with this clique or that just as it is, all there on the TV every week, if you need a model of how this place works.

So... kayfabe. And here we are breaking the fourth wall, which is another WWE convention. Or maybe we're not, that's partly the fun as well. I'm a face, right? I have the occasional moment where I head-butt a valet or two but mostly I get a big Wooooooo when I walk onstage, I'm as much of a face as FG possesses just at the moment. Guess what I started as? I was the biggest nastiest heel the site ever knew back in my glory days. I even had a month last year where I reverted to it, helped kill two of the site's clique queens and (in true WWE style) came out smelling of roses along with my partners in crime. Man we were bad.

How would I like RedGlitter and Magenta to handle things? I'm not the scriptwriter. Are you a heel? Are you a face? Which is she? What do you want to do? Maybe you'd make a magical tag team if you paired up. This is kayfabe, remember? You've seen her in costume, she's seen you play a few bouts, nobody gets invited round for a meal after the show. It's when that happens that a forum site gets depth. The one thing that always puts me in hoots of laughter, though, is anyone posting "what you see is what you get, I'm no different here than IRL".
:yh_worshp:yh_clap that was great....very entertaining!! And true too...

Personally I think it's a power strugle, if you put others down it'll make you look good. So a person who is constantly horrible really has a very low self esteem. It's a theory anyway.

We can't love everybody and can't expect to be loved by everybody, however to make threats on the net is ludicrous and dangerous.

For those of you out there battling against other people on the net beware of this.... I read recently potential employers are now going to the net to read up on you... meaning they are doing this weird kind of cyber back ground check. We have our pictures posted and hell who knows what else, and it's not so hard to put 2 and 2 together anymore on the net.

Uttering threads, of wanting revenge, wishing someone was dead, or wanting to kill are a bad thing.

If employers can find this stuff you guys, so can anyone else including authorities. Take it as seriously as you wish.

Sorry that may have been off topic.

Back to the minks cave.

:)Going back to the question, there are lots of reasons why. I have an example.

Where I work, there are a few people who think they own the place and they can wrap the boss around their fingers. They call all the shots but they're very clever to make him think it was his idea in the first place.

If you have a complaint about how you're being treated, it gets brushed under the carpet. Some people keep in with them because they're scared to lose their jobs. Nobody really likes them but are too afraid to say.

I, personally, am not scared of them but I don't like to make a fuss so I give them the impression that I'm fine with the way things are. I never let them see things bother me but my friends and I chat about them when we're alone.

I haven't got a nasty bone in my body so I smile sweetly and I think that this annoys them more.

Doing impressions of them with my mates helps to let off steam. we have a good ol laugh and they're none the wiser.

If I was to rant and rave at them, it wouldn't get me anywhere and I'd also feel bad about it, so my advice is to grin and bear it and NEVER let them see they're getting the better of you. They're the nasty ones not you, remember that!!:)

They say at work, never write an email on impulse when you are mad, once it is sent, there is no taking it back.

The written word is different than the spoken because it is more subjective to interpretation and implied expression.

One risk with posting messages is that it is an immediate response thing, and because people are not face to face it is too easy to throw out words that you would never speak in person. Once said, it is hard to take back or apologies because of the public forum, and there is no need to because of the cyber friendships.

How about those who offended each other offer words of reconciliation? Probably not, because it is easier to escalate the situation until someone moves on our out, there is no need for forgiveness. It is a good thing real life is not like that (well, maybe it is in some cases).

If you would not be prepared to say it out lowed, don’t put it in writing.

Go on then Clance, tell me what was ironic in there. It was meant as history. Stare as I might, the irony escapes me.

i think this whole ordeal is melodramatic. do you know each other outside of FG? its just cyber world. its not real. what are the threats? this isn't "The Ring". No one is going to climb thru anyone's monitor.

that being said...

everyone have a lovely day.

actually, some of us do know each other in real life and if someone wants to mess with your world it can be done. people have been known to lose jobs and marriages, real stalkers materialise, people have killed themselves from online bullying... lots of damage can be done.

There are many mistakes that are made online, don't underestimate how much someone can harm you just because they are on the internet. Better to be safe.

Just as NotToday, AlmostFamous, & I all have been friends for many many many years. I was asking if the folks having it out knew each other.

Be safe is right. Common Sense tells us to:

- Not give out personal information online

and

-Keep a STRONG hold of the world outside your computer
