It was sat there completely oblivious to the 400 pound gorilla ten yards from it. I'd not have been, there was a considerable telephoto on that shot.

Wow! Good job on the pelican (?) too. I like how you filled one side rather than centering the bird. Who is the statue of and who is the child? That one's really cute.

More to the point I should show it to the child's mother sometime. I keep telling her Felicity likes me. She keeps saying that Felicity has too much sense to be that daft.

I had a Polaroid like the one on the table in the office there.

I like the effects of the newspaper pile under the table and the old typewriter on the desk.

I know too little about getting the resolution onto a display instead of onto paper, I ought to buy a book or do a course. This is the closest I can get with Jock. Watching him is interesting in that he has no vocal language that I can relate to but he has very evident thoughts that seem indistinguishable to mine. How does he manage to think them without words?

Doesn't that make you wonder. I have no offering of an idea how but it's a good thing to wonder about. Are you familiar with KoKo? KoKo Talks How do you suppose she can do that? You did a fabulous job of capturing Jock's face. What kind of camera do you like to use, Spot?

I was rather embarrassed to go into that. I spent $120 on a Kodak EasyShare Z1275 and that's the only digital camera I've got, it's where all the pictures I posted to this thread and my FG album came from. It took me two days reading the manual before I powered it on and gave it a go, it's very different from my 35mm cameras.

When I was in short trousers I had a 127 Kodak Brownie one Christmas and I still have the prints and negatives from that. Going through school I upgraded to a bellows 120 and a 4x5" plate camera, and then an East German Exa SLR which I used for years and upgraded to an Olympus OM2 with a good telephoto lens. Those are what I learned on. I had a 120 Bronica ETLR that ended up with my daughter, that was fun because I preferred the fine grain for colour work. I'm not sure I'd go back to any of those now.

I'd quite like to try something that can capture 1080 24p movie, that's where I'm working toward. Something with either instant focus or a manual focus on the lens, and a manual telephoto. That would give me adequate still pictures as well probably.

Plate and bellows? How cool. I am really impressed that you understand how to work with those types of cameras as I don't have any understanding of camera operations, like aperture and such and much as I'd like to learn, I lack the required patience. I use my digital and I also have a basic Canon T-50 that I love. And like you, when I got my digital I looked at it for two days because I was intimidated by the gizmos. :o

I really like your photos, Spot. There is life within them. I'm glad you joined this thread. :-6

Thanks! I like the ones with people too. People are interesting. And I also like the ones with a lot of different textures in them. Like the railroad tracks lain among the gravel. I've always liked railroad tracks and trestles for some weird reason. I make wishes when I pass trestles. I have no idea how I came to do that. Have done it for years.

Yes, isn't that one of Felicity and Spot's leg a great one? He really should frame that if he hasn't already. :)

Wow, that's a striking one. I can almost feel the fabric on that

girl's blouse. It's got all kinds of textures going on....the wrinkled fabric, the girl's hand on the rough windowsill, whatever that metal looking stuff is on the other side of her. Stern face. Wow. Good one!
